Even when jumping from the boat onto the pier, there is a possibility of falling under the texture of the pier to the water level.
edit: oh, and I believe others have mentioned the food crates that suddenly cannot be opened until you restart the game.
Besides fixing the state of crates, it would be helpful to have the tooltip display WHAT is in the crate. I own a crate of firewood, is says "firewood (12)" like it used to. I pop the seal, and it only says "crate". Very helpful. Very informative. Tells me exactly how many firewoods I have left, of course, and exactly what is inside.
Oh, but what if a player puts many different things in a crate? Surely we can't expect the crate to display the names of each and every item?
Just make it so the crate lists the first three unique items and then "etc" to let the player know there is more stuff in there, this stuff really isn't that hard. Count from the upper slots (last added), or count from the lower slots (first added), or count by item value first, I don't care, but I would like to know what is in the crate without opening it, please.
Incidentally, I have a crate of fishhooks, which are sold by the box of 20. The small crate inventory has a grid size of 12. What this means, in effect, is that once opened, you can not tell how many fishhooks are in a crate until you have 11 of fewer. I don't need to tell anyone that knowing how many of something you have is important for planning supplies, especially when on a budget.
The "are you sure you want to open?" prompt was a step in the right direction, ensuring we don't accidentally open things we wanted to sell. But this inventory system should really have been given more thought and testing before release.
Speaking of bugs that require a restart, I'll add one of my own I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet.
About half the time when I start the game, my jib and upper & lower mainmast staysails don't function correctly, always luffing when they really shouldn't, like they can't get any wind, unless the wind is dead abeam. It seems fairly obvious to me that for some reason, my square foresails and mainsail yards are casting a false wind shadow on the staysails, as if the sails were fully unfurled when in fact they are tightly reefed. This issue is fixed when I restart the game and the staysails work correctly again, but it is obviously very annoying, and obviously game-breaking in nature.
For reasons I don't understand, the mizzen staysail seems to work just fine when this happens.
