mooring ropes

I don't really get how the mooring ropes work after the 0.22 update, now they seem loose (I suppose that's more realistic), but it makes managing the mooring more difficult and I keep finding myself pushing the boat from the water to place it beside the pier, which is not very realistic. Any ideas appreciated.

Put the rope between the boat and the dock, then you can pick up either end of the rope (right click) to adjust by scrolling

is it right click? IIRC it's left... or maybe it works either way?

What worked for me was right click before adjusting the rope with the mouse wheel, then left click to let it go.

The end of the rope on board is left-clickable. Took me a sec to figure out how the mooring ropes work (at one point, because of a bug when recovering where your mooring ropes are attached but are so slack it doesn't look like it's tied up to the dock), I was pulling on the onboard side and trying to hook it up to the dock. I was like why is it rolling? Why can I roll it with the scroll wheel?

Now that I figured it out, though, I kinda like it over the rubber bands we had before.
