Food and Water
Hi
Im more on the casual and/or exploration play here. My question is, is there a way to extend the duration of food and water and not be in a constant race against time to feed myself or drink water?
Maybe a config file or mod?
thanks in advance

You can fish and cook the fish on a stove (requires bringing a fishing rod, box of hooks, box of firewood as well!). Water so far I've just brought on board two barrels for longer trips and some separate bottles (bottles contain 5 sips of water each)

You can buy empty bottles at Al'Nilem which could contain 10 units of water.

Now that's good to know. I usually keep a 5 unit bottle in my inventory instead of the cup, so that'll halve my trips to the barrel again.

For the OP, well no there aren't any options like that yet, you just have to make food preparation part of your routine for now. When you're out on the ocean for days on end cooking and fishing give you something to do between measurements and course corrections. Cooked and some purchasable food like cheese fills you up a lot more than raw fish so you don't have to "race against time" to eat as often. One barrel of water is good for about a week. Food and drink also give you a way to wake up on a planned schedule, so you can decide how much time to skip.

10, not 5
Either you modded or something. Bottle capacity is 5. I have two of them right at my hands.

Most likely you moved from something with 10 capacity to that bottle immediately, the name will update but not the capacity count.

Standard filled bottles of water, yes. The special - empty bottles, only sold at Al'Nilem - could hold 10 units of water. You could buy the filled 5-unit bottles there too. So watch out for the empty bottles. Two at the counter of the general store at Al'Nilem. Go and look for yourself before accuing others for 'something'

Then you should have emphasized it's a special kind of bottle already.
If someone don't emphasize they are talking about an exceptional situation, it's on themselves. Just like if I claim the bigger spyglass costs 16k it'll be wrong. I need to say it's the special tier 3 spyglass only sold in Sunspire.
And in the case of this alleged special bottle, it has no visible difference from normal bottle (unlike tier 3 spyglass being significantly larger than tier 2). How am I supposed to understand something you didn't say?

I'm polite enough to not accuse you of photoshopping.

By the way, it's quite pointless to use the 10 capacity bottle tbh. (If it exists. I haven't scheduled a trip to Al'Nilem recently to check for myself)
5 capacity is already more than half of your water bar, so what's the point of having a 10 cap bottle, only to drink 5 at a time?

Given the nature of water bar (not having an extra "water debt" bar) it's already a bit of a bad habit to wait until you can drink 5 at a time. and 10 will basically be overfilling all the time.

Then you should probably read more carefully: My first statement said clearly "empty bottles at Al'Nilem'...
Since Sunspire has it special Spyglass, I assumed that every area may have some special, hidden item. Emerald had only the wind chimes, which are not so hidden. However, never found another place where empty bottles are sold.

Imagine this, I say:
"You can buy the big spyglass at Sunspire for 16k".

I would be wrong, because generally when we say "big spyglass" it means tier 2 which is about 2K-3K.
I'd have to emphasize something like "special", "tier 3" or stuff like that. "empty" bottle won't work because people often just buy water bottle, drink it, and keep the bottle. I never thought "empty" was of any value until your later elaboration that it is indeed sold empty.

Basically that's how it worked. Human brain neglects information it deems unimportant, you need to tell it otherwise or people won't read.

And yes every region has specials. For Emerald it's the 3-colored (and brightest) lanterns, for Aestrin it's the furniture (luxury bed etc.), and I think the most notable special in Al'Ankh would be the Snake Oil (elixir is also sold in Sanctuary)
Bookshelves are only sold in Al'Ankh, and I think Aestrin has a larger shelf as well (only saw that in Sailwind offices), while Emerald only has the basic shelf.

There are also "not so special" specials. As in, they are not unique, just better.
Al'Ankh's stove has +1 capacity; Dragon cliff stove is lightest; Dragon Cliff sells eels which are the most volume-effective bulk food; and people have been complaining about different issues of the Al'Ankh and Emerald chronocompasses, so I guess Aestrin's one is probably the easiest to use.

I also just posted a screenshot showing that the "basic shelf" bought in Gold Rock City is actually longer than the one bought in Dragon Cliffs. Again, not sure about Aestrin.

Thank you all for the advice

I believe the REAL use of the 10 cap bottle is for rum/wine.

I drink until I can't feel feelings anymore, or sail.

if you do not read good then it is on you to:

1, not go to great lengths in un-logic to fault helpful poster who makes good clear and concise posts

(look at how many words you post on page to defend weak injured ego
you do not read good so you make others read more!
this is rude)

2, not pretend you have moral high ground for not accusing helpful posters of forgery

(and at same time you accuse hims of not posting good when it is your reading that is not good)

i have laugh at you, but i look on this thread with sad feeling now, i hope my post sets you on right path of charity and humility and i hope you one day read good thank you

It's just not how it works.

A bottled water is shown as "empty bottle" as well after you drank the contents, so saying "empty bottle from al'Nilem" simply isn't sufficient. Unless the listener already are aware of the existence of the 10-cap bottle (which means the entire discourse is unnecessary), it can and will be comprehended as buying a normal water bottle from Al'Nilem and drink it.

Just like the example I gave: "big telescope from Sunspire" is also insufficient information. And Sunspire would be more forgiveable due to tier 3 spyglass most likely are known by more than the 10-cap bottle, plus the Tier 3 at least looks significantly bigger than tier 2.
