My Truck Game

My Truck Game

First impressions / feedback (updated 2/21)
Interesting concept! It feels like BeamNG lite, not with the collision physics which still need work but with the driving physics and how the truck components interact with each other and the ground. If the project continues to receive good updates I think it could really be a serious simulation. I'd suggest these improvements:

- clutch & shifter support
- ability to customize bindings and adjust FFB strength
- ability to toggle all wheel drive & diff lock if available on a truck
- better and more varied engine sounds (the bus sounds like a vacuum cleaner)
- less slippery collisions with obstacles
- some damage modelling
- different sounds and less dust from truck on asphalt
- less tire grip / more realistic stopping distance
- better suspension damping (suspension can be quite bouncy, then suddenly stops moving)
- ability to detach trailers and add/remove cargo other than boulders
- ability to adjust tire pressures
- more realistic driver camera that doesn't rigidly move with the truck, and slightly pans to each side as the driver steers
- more accurate fuel consumption (it seems too low except when going downhill in a gear with no throttle input - it should be practically zero)
- consider more realistic rear suspension with air bags rather than leaf springs (leaf springs are common in the front)

Bump. I suspect this feedback from when I first got the game fell through the cracks. Given that the game is going to receive an update, it makes me hopeful that this could still one day be a good truck simulator. All these suggestions would improve realism and enjoyment. Only 3 of these are half implemented so far (shifter support, bindings and cargo other than boulders).

I'd say the last one especially (rear airbag suspension) should be of interest to the dev, since the core appeal is supposed to be that the truck components move realistically. However the rear suspension is way too bouncy for a real truck and it's not supposed to have leaf springs.

Tire traction also badly needs to be toned down so the trucks don't have the stopping distance of a race car.
