SWORN
Sworn vs Ravenwatch
My friend brought this game up about wanting to play a co-op Hades game, so now I'm wondering if this newer game is better than Ravenswatch or not.

It's kind of not accurate to compare the 2 since these 2 have very different type of gameplay. If you're asking about quality right now i think ravenswatch have the edge since its been around longer. As for gameplay related its very hard to compare because the difference. And for now both have the same weakness for coop related like no reconnect feature, no ping info about your team, no lobby browser. Matchmaking for raven quite bad since you can get paired with someone at the other side of the world and you will have a very uncomfortable delay/ping... and sworn don't even have matchmaking.
So yeah both kind of still lacking in coop related content but it can changes in the future.
For gameplay maybe if you want more action go for sworn, if you want to play more cooperatively go for raven, sworn have more "you kind of just play together instead of doing it cooperatively" than raven. For replayability definitely raven.

^yeah Ravenswatch has more depth and actually need to know what your doing, where-as Sworn is more fast-paced, almost arcady beat em up (for multiplayer anyways)
theyre too different
Ravenswatch has more freedom on the lower difficulties. That will drastically change onces you hit higher difficulties and it's just a run against time finding certain events asap and force them to become as powerful as you can before time progressses. You WANT to snowball.

SWORN is linear in it's progression and playstyle. It's a slightly better base game compared to Hades, only lacks the charm of the characters (Hades 2 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not on the list, mind you, I am only talking about the first game)
Ravenswatch >>> Sworn.

That's quite harsh ROTFL... give dev time to fix this game, for now stick to Stun, Frost, Backstab
Thanks for the in-depth replies, everyone. I never really took the time to look deep into the gameplay, so they looked like the same game at a quick glance.

I've often heard these games can't be compared--they're absolutely competing games in my friend circle, unlike say...Inkbound or Across the Obelisk. Both Ravenswatch and Sworn are isometric action roguelite co-op games with randomized blessing/boon progression, a limited number of events/upgrades before each boss, augmented by a currency system? They're in different sides of the subgenre...but they're co-op games in the exact same subgenre. You have to be very zoomed in for these to be wildly different things.

In my experience, Sworn >>> Ravenswatch. My friends and I like the fast-paced, room-based combat much more. With Ravenswatch, I often think about firing up, but always have to ask myself "do I really want to spend all that time running?" There's so much downtime and travel time compared to something like this, to the point that I usually don't want to play it solo. Sworn has almost no downtime. You also play Sworn entirely at a moment-to-moment level, focusing on your current gameplay--build and gold decisions are the entirety of mid-or-long-term planning. Ravenswatch, you're constantly focused on where you're going and maximizing time value, often at the expense of moment-to-moment gameplay.

definitely. it is not fair to compare those 2 games yet as Ravens had way more time to cook.

also a good point. Ravenswatch's runs tend to last longer, or at least feel that way cause you have to plan how to tackle the map, run around etc. Sworn is faster and there is way less downtime.

I only have 6+hrs in Sworn but 55+ in Ravens so I can't objectively assess Sworn atm. Both are good games though and deserve your attention.
