boomerang trick

Can anyone using a controller help me with the boomerang?
There's a part needs you using the boomerang under slow mode to hit the switch, need a few turn, but I kept hitting the wall. I tried for almost 30 mins, is there any trick for controller users with this boomerang?

I don't remember having any particular trouble with the boomerang using a controller. It can only turn so much so it may be that you aren't supposed to hit the switch with the boomerang from where you are but I'm not sure exactly what room you are referring to
