End Game Discussion

I'm creating a thread here for anyone else that's reached the endgame and is also getting stuck. This will be a thread for people who have beaten the final boss and are just looking for help with cleanup. Obviously, spoilers ahead.

There are two key things blocking my progression at the moment. The first is that I cannot find the 6th mustache man anywhere. I found the first 5 fairly quickly, with one in each quadrant plus the one at the band, but the 6th has completely eluded me. With there being one in each quadrant, I assumed I could find the 6th in the city, but I've got nothing.

The second progression gate is also city related. I have 2 of the 3 gear pieces, and somewhat know how to get the third, but can't quite figure out the puzzle. I've found the 'dream stone' that shows you to add the arrows, and I've found six stones with arrows on them, one of which has a cog piece symbol on it. However, no combination of arrows that I can come up with using the 6 stones actually gets me to the 8 arrows (I assume) needed to use the tower in the dark forest.

I'm completely stumped on these two issues, but have just about everything else (at least as far as I'm aware). Leave a comment if you have something that's gating you and I'll try and help if I can (or hopefully someone else will be willing if I can't).

Well, it's not like they don't have any function at all -- they're both healing springs. Though that function is a tiny bit clearer with the NW pond, since that's also a hot spring, which usually coincides with the 'healing spring' gaming trope.

I'm at 58 crystals, and I think I'm missing a mask shard and a few records too. I've been scouring the whole map. Really annoying to find a super deep hidden secret and it's just... money?

I really think you should explore a bit more. The answer should be super obvious when you come across it. I'll give a hint to the general area though if you really want it: the city.

100% agree, the amount of times I've found something super obscure and it was just a diamond or gold bars is getting really annoying, especially when money is *so* worthless in the late game. There really should be a detector item or something, maybe something you get from beating the final boss.

I eventually found it. I think it's mainly tied to my color palette. I somehow had a unexplored spot there in the place of question but at first glance it really blended in. Honestly can't believe I didn't notice it was unexplored

I am missing one crystal. Does anyone know of a crystal that is super obscure? So tedious searching through the entire map

The very last crystal I found was:
In the Snow Temple, go east from the heart-shape-trees crossroad, it's buried in the snow at the dead-end of that canyon, you have to dig it up with your claws

I think the last two I found before that were:
in the ruined/earth temple, there's a waterfall in a room at the northeast side, swim up it with the upgraded flippers and the crystal is in a chest at the top
And
Ladder down into a cave one screen east of the ruined/earth temple, where you had to use boomerang + hookshot to get a crystal from a chest across the water in the middle of the room. The right wall is breakable and there's another crystal there.

Now I just need to track down my final mask shard

You've been a great help, would have been a long time before I found that waterfall crystal, especially since I found a similar chest in the ghost house just recently and it was only a diamond.

As for your final mask shard, based off of your last crystal, my guess would be it's hidden in the snow north of the second potion teleport.
If it isn't that, one of the last few I collected was hidden in the clouds, going E from the dream stone. Other than that, I'm unfortunately not too sure what else there might be, as I've been full (aside from the ones in the foundry ) for a good while now.

It wasn't either of those - the Dreamstone islands only contain money.

Turns out it was just a super obvious one I swear I'd already grabbed - The mask-pattern of bushes south of the sleeping fox that sends you to the Dreamstone, buried in the middle. I was sure I got that on my first time through but I checked it again since I was right there.

I'm missing a few hidden records - 33, 36, and presumably 40, but I'm not super stressed about those. With all the masks and crystals done, as well as all the "main" reoords I'm content in calling this one done.

I'm missing records 7, 32, 33 and 35.

7 I figure is the swamp music, but I have no idea where it could be. Any ideas?

7 is very well-hidden for a "regular" track.

You can find it at the "Crossroads" in the swamp, one tile south of the witch's cottage and the power plant exit, between the two. The cliff face on the north side has an invisible destructible wall that the magnifying glass does not reveal.

I believe the mysterious "X" in a flower ring between three puddles is supposed to be a hint for where to find this one. The three puddles map to the waterfall entrance to the power plant area to the west, the capybara hot springs to the northeast, and the shallow pool to the southeast where you had to fight two cyclopses, with the hidden cave containing the record in the middle of the three

For posterity, some other trickier records (both regular and secret) I remember:
- One is on a hidden plateau off the middle-east side of the ancient city
- Use the balloon to fall off the cliff in the warp zone
- Use the balloon to fall into the hole in the hydra boss room in the power plant dungeon

Has anyone figured out what to do with the stone math equation in the city secret islands? I assume it goes in the doorway room in the woods but not sure how. Maybe this is my last crystal..

Yup, it's actually one of the two issues that was asked in the original post by me. Look at the original post and the first reply from TFMurphy, those should hopefully be enough. If not, just let me know.
