Game wont open presumably because of Denuvo
Game keeps giving me a prompt to connect to online suddenly, when i was playing this game perfectly fine for 2 weeks, and now can’t open the game. Can’t connect to online because I live in a very rural area with hardly any internet access so god knows how long it’ll be before I can even play this game. Thanks SEGA....

So yes, this one IS Denuvo's fault.

Wait, you can't connect online, so how did you post this?

Uh, temporarily tethered to 5G, found a hotspot, used their cell data to post the thread, etc? There's plenty of ways. However, *staying* connected is clearly their problem.

In that case I don't see how Denuvo is a problem. It only requires a connection check every couple of weeks.

Absolutely wrong.
Steam requires the connection once per 2 weeks basically, Denuvo requires Always On.

That's provably false. I actually disconnected my internet and played to test this. It seems to depend on the game/publisher, but for SEGA games it only seems to require a connection check every 2 weeks. The same thing happened to me once with PuyoPuyo Tetris. It definitely doesn't require being always online.

Now THIS is a legitimate problem about Denuvo. Well, DRM in general. lol
Having a game depend on a server running who-knows-where to remain functional is a terrible idea overall.

That's fine. Personally it's not a big deal to me, but I will say you're missing out on a pretty good game.

Not really if he knows what to search for...

Which is the Arcade Future Tone, it has even more songs than the DLC included of this game.

Definitely questionable in terms of security, but it's how I found this music almost a decade ago. Since then I've bought the PS3, PS4, Switch games (and all DLC), bought this game and all DLC, seen Miku Expo live, pumped money into the Arcade game at the Sega arcades in Akihabara Japan, and purchased multiple official CDs and figurines. Things may not always be as black and white as we seem to make them out to be.

What the included DRM serves at this point in time may present otherwise paying users with an alternative option supposedly free from the addled official release (albeit including potential cyber and legal risks). At this oint in life I am doing fine and I only purchase things from legitimate sources, but it seems from reading comments online that the literal purpose of Denuvo has already succumbed to certain groups. Which begs the question why even include it at all at this point?

I don't have the metrics but corporate would have to do the math and realize DRM will have a point of diminishing returns and start actually hurting sales. Kind of unfortunate devs are caught in the crossfire of this all since I doubt the decision lies with them.

Well, I won't argue about the merits/demerits of piracy. I also used to pirate before I was able to legitimately buy games. It's probably true that the inclusion of DRM wasn't up to the game developers, but arriving at a conclusion of pirating because of it is pretty baffling to me, particularly if you can actually afford the game. What makes it worse is that people had been wanting a Project DIVA game for PC for a while now, yet when it actually releases a minor inconvenient like DRM (which was expected, given SEGA's PC releases) compels people to piracy. It's ridiculous. A bit funny, but also pretty tragic. I'd hate to be in the developer's shoes.
