steam deck-> black screen; any solution?

nothing happens when i start the game, just black screen

You need to use the experimental version of proton, go to your library, select the game but don't select the play option, instead press the cog icon on the right, then Properties > Compatibility

Tick the checkbox "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" then choose Proton Experimental from the drop down, it should then load with no black screen.

You actually need to install Proton GE (e.g. with ProtonUp-QT) and then select it for the game either directly in the ProtonUp-QT app or in game's compatibility tab in Steam (it will appear there only after Steam client restart or switch between desktop and game modes right after being installed). Otherwise the route video won't be displayed and distance won't be changing while attempting driving with only cabin, HUD and instruments.

Odd, i've played around 6hrs on experimental with no issues so no idea whats going on. I have had games like e.g. Persona 4 go from playing videos ok to then not when I reinstalled. I was playing around with various branches of SteamOS so that could be why.

Either way, at least you have it working
