But there's another comparison which is my opinion is more relevant: Grand Prix World Manager by Microprose vs OWM2. And here I can tell that GPW still rules in some aspects.
For example, in GPW your sponsor negotiation is more visual, you can select which deals you have (Works, Partner, Customer) and sponsor logos are much more visual when you place them on cars + it is easier to understand your profitability next season in GPW. In general GPW UI is more convenient and interesting. Also, your setups are less like a mini-game in GPW, but more thoughtful and technical which is a better way for me. Also, GPW has better testing process between races IMHO.
OWM 2 has much better visual race representation, much more logical and continius race simulation. In GPW results depended a lot if you simulated race vs if you participated and then fast forwarded, for example.
Overall, I see OWM2 as a successor of GPW that requires some work to be done in UI and gameplay, specifically in between race days. But the game is already enjoyable.
