I see full servers every day without bots, there just aren't as many people playing at this time. Check in a few hours.

one server has atleast 24 players most of the time (although its only island, ha, ha, haha....) and on weekends maybe one or two servers with atleast one having modded maps. Not a popular game, but also not entirely dead. Hope the new classes will attract new players.

Making the game harder is generally not a good way to get more people

Changing the game's difficulty to be easier or harder will make no difference on the population at this point. Its a decade old source mod that hardly ever gets updates, that's why its so dead

Honestly, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. The population was small to begin with. Small, but dedicated.

Problem is for the last 3 years or so even these dedicated players have been leaving the game and not coming back
