I've been playing the game for a while and I'm starting to get a bit stuck at only ascension 5 / astrea 3.

I feel like that for pretty much all class expect the first one, most dices have trouble working alone without already having a synergie in your deck, which can be a deadweight picking it if you aren't offered dices for said synergie later.
It's even worse if it's a risky dice, which actually make it like a curse. But it's often the risky dice you want, since those are the one that often may start enabling a build.

But since there are enemy that scale fast and you need to build up your starting deck, I feel like you have to take those dice at the risk of not being able to make it work.
So I end up often simply going for the more straightforward build ( upgrade , purification , conversion , dodge ... ) which are easier to work around alone but make you skip a lot of dice if it's not the ones you are looking for.
That leave a lot to chance, which make it low winrate.

I find it really hard to go for multiple synergie in your deck.

The strategie I often go for is always take scalling / build enabling risky dice, forge it at the shop and spam duplificate it.

This is not really a complain for the game, I really love challenging games, but I was wondering if my point of view was shared among other people or I'm just playing badly.

FWIW, I've also found my build options fairly limited for largely the same reasons. A lot of decks simply don't function until you have a certain baseline of dice from that particular deck, and this game doesn't really forgive you having a semi-functional deck for really any period of time. It's a definite design challenge for games in this genre. Sometimes I wish I could start with a different set of starter dice that leaned towards other builds, but that's a challenging enough implementation on its own.

I am on A5A5 atm. I feel this way especially for Squid, where you have a ton of possible build options. but ignore half the dice if they're not for the orb you're building for.

I think some form of focus like one step from eden, or dead cells removing stuff from pool could make the game more fun.

As it is now, the multiverse cube (reroll rewards) is probably the strongest item in the game. Getting it early improves your chances of winning significantly.
