Metaprogression? Roguelike or Roguelite?
it's a roguelite or roguelike? Description says roguelike. So there is no metaprogression?

ok, sadly it's a roguelike.

It is a roguelike, but there is metaprogression, every character has 6 levels to level up, but it is not that kind of progression that makes you stronger as you level up, it unlocks new dice and blessings that changes gameplay and playstyle and are usually harder to pickup when first playing (actually only the first level up makes you a little bit stronger =P but ther)

Mhmm... that is a bit unfortunate for me personally. I loved the demo, but I am not sure if I will have enough of a drive to play for a long time, lacking a metaprogression.

Game is great, though! I still want to at least try a full run at some point.

Thank you for not following this trend of meta-progression where games end up being far too easy, or you're weak and progression locked behind having enough of it. It's just bad game design to create artificial replay value.

Unlocking more options, not particularly stronger, makes me very glad I'll be buying the game.

Ah no worry, we dont need to like every game that exists, it is normal to prefer other type of meta progression =D
But I would suggest to at least try a run and see if you have fun without the power meta and if you dont you can always refund =D
But give it a chance xD

To be honest I think both options are viable if you do it correctly.
Like on hades it doesnt bother me. Maybe because it is so good/juicy/fun to play that I dont mind grinding, you know? So I dont know if it is bad game design if done correctly. Hmmm. But I respect your opinion =D
But me personally prefer not having power meta and it is the design line that I feel more comfortable and that is why we did this way =D

We tried to make the game more accessible to all kind of players, just hope we didnt make it too easy on first difficulty level, but there is more difficulties and we can always balance after release =D
Thanks so much for buying the game and for trusting us, in case you have feedback just let us know we will be listening!

You can always join our discord to discuss with other players =D

Oh, I fully intend to try it out someday! As I said, I have loved the demo, and I find the gameplay engaging, not to mention the great art. So I definitely want to experience a full run, it is just that without meta-progression my monkey brain will find it difficult to stay committed enough to see all that the game has to offer. :steamfacepalm:

But I will keep Astrea on my list! Congrats on a great game! :steamhappy:

for me I like this type of adding more mechanic as game progress, I feel like it has many more things for me to find out. >_<

It's nothing like a roguelike.
It's a nice game though.

Per the meta of Steam Community Tags, this game absolutely is both a Roguelike and Deckbuilding Roguelike. If you want to be a purist about the term, use Traditional Roguelike, which this game is not.

Okay I think this just sold me the game. Before I open my wallet, is there something similar to Slay the Spire's Ascension levels?

Yep, it is actually the same difficulty level style as StS, but with some small changes, hard to explain it here without you playing the game, but we actually have 2 type of difficulty levels.
Right now it is being unlocked each difficulty level per time like StS, but it is open to discussion (we are actually discussing it on this topic https://steamcommunity.com/app/1755830/discussions/0/3877092663690318935/)

Yea those games are really bad and not fun at all....a good example is that game that you're using as your profile pic that you seem to be a big fan of.
