Thanks
And yeah, it was already scheduled for release tomorrow around 2pm ET.
Except for the Intro movies, but it's no big deal.
I can play a space-game and see all sorts of cool planets and systems...from space...and be all: "Why can't I land on them and go exploring? Go stretch my legs?"
Or games where it's dead and static, no NPCs or AI, and go: "Why is everything so scripted and artificial? Why does it feel like I'm on a stranded island? Where is everyone?"
And then go: "HMM. What game solves all of this? What game lets me fly to a planet and land and deploy vehicles and stuff? Let's me go stretch my legs and explore? What game is an active universe that is fully of npc/AI going about it's own business and affairs that I can go all sandbox in? OH YEAH..." and then come back again to BC games to get a refill on what it offers. So it's no surprise fans, new and old, keep coming back. It's etched in our minds we can do so many things and comes to the surface playing other games and encountering their limitations.
It's as if the ongoing game design philosophy out there is geared toward limiting the player, due to lack of skill, or will to invest anything, to try and make something greater. Whereas in contrast, it always felt to me, that the BC series was built around being as unlimited as possible. The series is probably 50 years ahead of it's time and is it's legacy.
Anyways, that's my spiel. Since 1996 , there's nothing that has remotely come close to rival it, from what I've seen. Any that tried to somewhat, is either abandoned or still in "Early Access" still trying to figure out how to implement basic features BC did 20 years ago. Maybe it will take them another 20-25 years to work it all out? lol
In the meantime, we'll keep diving in the space-games, enjoying at first, wanting more, and the stark realization: there is no more; and then remembering, there is more, play BC again.
