is there an issue with the blacksmiths quest?

So I'm at the point where I need to remove broken items. It says 10 remaining, but I have removed everything that looks broken. It almost seems that I would have to tear down the whole building too do it, or its a bug.

So many issues.
Probably have to remove the smelter that's broken and some more walls or something. I've gotten that, and rescued the apprentice. Blacksmith won't acknowledge it (talk to master blacksmith is still the quest objective). I can't build the house - it won't recognize a smelter being placed in there, or a 'completed' house within their requirements. I'd love to rebuild exactly what was there before because that might be the problem.. but you dismantle everything so who knows what they want from me.

Were you guys able to figure out which bed is needed for bedroom for apprentice? I gave him a wooden bed but nothing happened?
