Stuck on Signal detected mission

I have completed all parts of the mission however it is still showing in progress after getting the cryptic response. Thought that going back to base would fix it but nope. Anyone else have this?

I am unsure about this but I got really stuck on one mission and looked for ages and ages...

I offer this as a mere possibility because I cannot recall if it was this mission or not I got stuck on.

also stuck on this mission, im sure it wants me to go find wherever the clue refers to but it's too vague

Okay so the clue refers to a polyhedron that's in a straight line from the sun through the gas giant the creatures are on, it's not correctly aligned to the moon it refers to so when i first looked for it i never found it

If you go to the dark side of the moon, and align yourself with its shadow, you'll travel approximately in the direction of the artifact and so if you aren't going too fast, you'll spot it.

Not sure if Bonegrinder is right, he is talking about the gentle gas giant that has to do with the mission to help the colony that has to pay tributes.

And the artifact you discover there definitley don't kill you.

Are you talking about that extreme hot "Spot" that burns you faster then a sun?

My guess would be that you need energy shields to explore it. But I haven't unlocked them yet.

I don't really know. I have signal detected (where I found floating creatures and peeps being exploited, but don't know where to go next). Bonegrinder mentioned going right from the moon and I found a very hot spot, what's with that? Did I search in the wrong system and still managed to find something? :D I thought this was a reference to gentle gas giants. Which system should I be looking in?

Then Bonegrinder is right, but I don't know why the Relic you found destroyed you. It justs emits particles but does no harm to me?

Well I did find this super hot thing once in a nebula, but it was near the red raider factory. It did massive damage if you got too close to it, but gave 2 things of research data, then never saw it again. It looked like a geyser of particle energy... similar to that thing in Star Trek voyager, episode Alice.

Is that the hot thing you are referring to?

Because the thing I mean to investigate is another polyhedral object, but it emits blue particles and is completely safe.

For that one I just threw on a ton of bulkheads and armor and crammed as many engines in as I could on the scout and removed all weapons.... then hit turbo thrust, waited til the hull was at about 50% and hit battlestations until I got the pop up and backed the hell away as fast as I could. Shields would've made it simple, though, but it IS technically doable with the basic stuff available at the beginning as long as you research battlestations and aren't afraid to quicksave right before trying.

Okay:

Like others have said, the artifact you're looking for that ends this mission isn't directly aligned with the burning moon. Since the game uses cardinal directions canonically to explain things on the map, it's in the same quadrant as the floaty squidlike people *cough* Hanar*cough*, it's to the east of the quadrant at the cursor coordinates -1.2 X 10.4 / you shouldn't need to fly directly into it, just around it, It's 2082.2 AU from the Gental Gas Giants marker. so, from there, head East-southeast in a shallow trajectory that's only a little bit off from the planet and you should find it. It may help to have your map up and zoomed in all the way. Not that you can't visually see it, it's pretty sizeable, but, the map marker for it is way easier to spot. This is a device similar to one that you can find close to the starting sector.

Oh my *god* thank you so much for posting this. The clue was the worst breadcrumb ever - nothing even vaguely close to the "shadow of the burning moon". I don't know if I ever would've found it without this post.
