EMP/radiaton Missiles
Anyone else finding the EMP/rad spam by the devout later in the game to be really annoying? I feel like I have to focus the whole time on shooting these things down, I'm still winning the battles but it's taking forever. Is there some big brain move here that I'm missing?

i find the setting the lasers to auto target helps a bit

Might be wrong but I think the shield protects from the radiation?

Stacking two havoc perimeters will obliterate any missiles, as well as most ships. Very OP weapon.

As for EMP/rad don't care much about these since I always make ships with excellent mobility (60-80 base speed) and they just don't have time to do any damage.

What I really hate is swarm missile spam from "Runaway missilws" in that one sector.

Yeah those were my least favorite additions.. and I can't even shot them myself!
the research options to make them less potent helped, but it's still a hassle.. Having a ship that is able to tank everything through the shield, and there comes a EMP missile and your shield is gone and you're squishy. Oh well, armor then, and there comes a rad missile and you lose plenty of people while your ship is hardly damaged.

Use the autofire of the plasma turrets to shoot them down. Make sure you keep the enemies out of the turrets' range, otherwise they will be adamant on shooting at enemy ships and ignore missiles. Because in this game for some reason the PD is supposed to do the job of the main guns (who needs their ship not blown up anyway?).

Agree with this. That zone immediately kills me if I go in. Currently all I can afford is one shield, which immediately drops to missile spam, two lasers and a dozen plasma cannons on auto-defense which seem to make no different to the missile spam, and of course 4 fixed guns which I can't use because them moment I stop running to point at the enemy I die.

It would probably be OK if runaway missiles had range or cooldown similar to regular missiles, but it seems like they just send an unending swarm of 10-20 missiles at you from offscreen (even at max view distance) to keep you forever overwhelmed.
