Swarm Missiles not firing?
Hey guys, I researched the final tech for swarm missiles, however my missiles don't seem to have changed at all following the 2 upgrades. Is there a button to fire a different sort of missile? Or is this a bug?

Not sure if it needs activation in the ship system tabs, like for alternative fire mod.

It's basically this. Go to your Ship Systems tab and you'll see you can adjust some of the options for your weapons. As you start to unlock "variants", this is where you set them. Once you change it from Normal to Swarm, you'll see your missiles use the swarm version now. Can change it whenever.

Oh thank you for the heads up. I feel rather stupid, I have been playing for the last few hours completely believing that it was bugged. It's very unfortunate that the damage of missiles just isn't quite on the same level as other weapons.

It's only mentioned by a crew member once, I think? And if you're caught up doing anything else when they do it's incredibly easy to miss.

Yeah, but they're still good. It seems like they do explode and damage areas instead of a single point. And the biggest benefit is that they draw enemy fire imo. Sort of an aggressive defense option that way. And arguably the coolest looking.

That this is very helpful: I was searching in the ship construction and in flight menu where this option is

Yes its mentioned once but I though he said we need to select the type of missile when mounting the module and that we can only mount one type only: so I assumed it is a different module that is incompatible with the normal missile launcher (would just not allow to mount it like in case of a 3rd wing or a second thruster in the same direction)

SWARM missiles are a good way to punch through a point defense. The damage is split between the missiles, but now if one gets destroyed, the remainder get through and SOME of that damage is still delivered.

And yes, a large volley of swarm missiles can be a useful counter defense because the enemy puts all their lasers and plasma turrets into defensive auto fire. And of course, it's effective against YOU as well. All I need to say here is: 'Runaway Missile'. If you've encountered this threat, you know.[/i]

I didn't even know this tab existed.
There's a minor message about variants but doesn't tell you where to select them.

Seriously, you're just supposed to notice a new option, on a (new or with nothing to choose until then) tab, in the ship management screen?
