For me building and improving the ships is the best part. The most addictive part.
Now that my Dreadnought is perfected and I kinda don't feel like playing as much.
The late game enemies could be scaled up in difficulty to balance players building 500 hex or more ships.
You can edit a file to increase the hex size to anything? Just check this forum. One post tells you how.
Love that aspect & balancing the various elements (thermals, power draw, etc, etc). :).
Just scratches that ultimate "build YOUR thing YOUR way" itch!
Here is the link
Also type "AddTech ("DEFAULT.EXPERIMENTAL")" into the console (F11) to get access to extra bulkheads, connectors, weapons and utility modules.
You're missing out. Lotta fun!
Okay yeah, I realized if we're allowed to build a much bigger ship, it would most likely break the balance of the game. And you comment could probably help solve that. But I don't think it's that simple lol.
Ikr. I just wish they would introduce a standalone build mode (outside of the main gameplay), just so I could go nuts with building my ideal ship.
My Dreadnought is actually pretty light. It ended up being somewhere between 109 and 115 hex squares by the time I was done with it. So slightly bigger than the max allowed size of a cruiser, but far more durable, plus retains a decent amount of speed for instances when I need to move fast.
