Is the map really that huge?
Out of curiosity, I've explored maybe 30 systems so far, but if I reaaaaly zoom out the map, it looks like a tiny area in the center. And then if I pan left/right, it's a while until it reached the 'edge'. Is that all really filled up with systems or is it just 'cosmetic'? :D

At the moment, the 'canvas' of the universe is much larger than the 'gameplay' area. But consider that once modders dig in, that means there is quite a bit of room for added content. Also, even with the fastest possible ship, the playable area is still quite large to fly manually across.

Hi @tyrax !
The map isn't full of systems, but the ones which are spaced far apart are done so intentionally.

Very broadly, all the game's current content takes place within a circle of about 600,000 AU diameter (so, 120 grid squares across) The maximum zoomed-out view I have for the map is about that -- a square spanning (-60 x -60) to (+60 x +60)

Most (if not all) of the content of the main story will be encountered with the aid of clues, special missions, etc. and will put a player within reach of at least one wormhole gateway or flinger, so there's no need to fly across the map.
