Wiskamug mission?
I've completed the main story and been everywhere that I can see, I've got no tasks except to tell Yu it's time to go home, but Wiskamug is still sitting in my active missions. Is there something more to him? I don't have to kill him, do I?

Nope. Don't need to kill him :)
The mission either ends IIRC when you unlock his fortress, and/or when you complete the repair of the Imperial Neural Trainer and get the option to use it

I've already finished that second thing, and seen no sign of the first thing. what do

e: it was not the Retrainer, it was something else

looks like the answer was "go fart around in deep space and find an entire flinger network that was sitting just outside of sensor range from the other nearby systems"

His area was due south a long ways from my start point

For those who want to bypass the Wiskamug's Lair security, the answers to the 3 questions are:
1. 112
2. Onyx III
3. Terminus

For those who do not want spoilers, here are few tips:
1. Answer found in the Defended Well anomaly. It's one of the planets in the Wiskamug's Lair system cluster.
2. Unknown (I did find the Chatedral Wreck but no word about it's location name, so i brute forced that answer).
3. Answer found in the Military Debris anomaly. It's another of the planets in the Wiskamug's Lair system cluster.

That was not my answer to question 3 so maybe there is some RNG there.

Hi @aesyle
For (2) The star name may be randomized from a list, but in the system where you encounter the Cathedral Wreck there's always a random encounter where you find an observatory with a nameplate :)
For (3) This also appears to be randomized from a list. I got "Prancer" one time.

@illegal_legos I think you're right. The end state for that quest line ought to therefore be recovering a Talonian fragment from Wiskamug's locked fortress.

Thanks for the answer, but
2. The Desert Antenna anomaly displays compeltely different name for me. "Ryxag II Observatory". But to bypass the lair/fortress, the Onyx III was correct answer in my game.

Just tried Aesyle's answers and they matched mine. Now I need to figure out what I'm missing to "finish the game"
shiantar Jun 13, 2024 @ 8:51pm
@Aesyle if you're consistently not able to use the answers from the game's story to get into the fortress, I guess it's either
a) Wiskamug was more brain-damaged than he realized ; or
b) it's a bug, and a bug report would help :)
Sorry that didn't help the first time around!

I'm surprised that it is possible for him to die to one of those, his ship should be stronger than that.

But it should not block you out of anything. You can sometimes trade with him and it is sometimes nice to have him blow up Devout stuff for you, but there isn't anything that you need him to be alive for, AFAIK.

Poor Wiskamug. He absolutely terrifies all devout and pirates he spots. However, when you try to fight him after making friends, he seems very reluctant to shoot back at you, and dies like a chump :(
