Stuck? Can't figure out what to do next? I want to hear about it.
In the game's open world universe, the player is free to explore at their own pace and direction. Most of the game's core story line is expected to unfold at a natural pace with organic exploration, providing some hints if the player missed something critical. Since I know all the content in the game, it is sometimes difficult for me to recognize where players might get stuck if they do things in an unexpected order or miss some clue.

As of Kepler 17342, the number of common "stuck" points in the game have dwindled, but I still want to be aware of any.

  • General: Some times you need to return to Celaeno for new information.
  • General: If you think you are stuck, make sure you've investigated any yellow or purple highlighted investigation targets on the map (unscanned or unsurveyed anomalies). Also, check the Mission Log.
  • Mid Game: The Heretic Portals require a key that should be found soon after you find one. Once a portal is active, you can fly into it.
  • Mid Game: Some player have had trouble re-finding ships of The Trade Guild. They can usually be found in the constellation where you find the Aquarian Colony. If you search your log for "guild master" you can see where you last interacted with them.
  • Late game: One of the three keys you need drop from the Devout in the green nebulae, but only after you've completed the Arkadian quest line.
  • Late game: The unstable cores will eventually respawn after you leave the area
  • Late game: Several players have had trouble locating the Missing Goryr vessel. Sometimes it is legitimately hard to find, but it is also possible to accidentally destroy. Failing to find it doesn't block the main story, but does prevent the mission from being completed.
  • Late game: In Strange Matter, the mission reports the Xenium task as completed, whether or not you have the correct amount. You need to deliver 4 units to complete the mission.
  • Late game: In the unstable "storm space", there's a trail of debris you need to follow to the NE.

You can now submit saves game via F8, but since feedback is anonymous, also post in this thread so I (or another player) can respond.

Small feedback. About the trial by ordeal, I hoped I could do it at the end, but my crewmates are specialized, and can't be respec-ed. My best modifier is -60, so still unreachable. I get it, but I don't like not being able to 100% the thing. Maybe offer me a way to get a new crew that I can respec? Like send the original crew on shore leave for a while...

Having the same problem here. I'm pretty sure I'm almost at the end of the game (180 XP for the crew at the moment, +10 to most specialist's primary skill) and I've got -90% on all three characters for that trial. I did do the quest for a planet that gives +2 to a character, but I must have picked one not used by the trial, so at best I'd be around -70%.

Generally if I've got around a -20% or worse chance for any trial I just come back later and I've completed everything except that colossal cave planet (just because it's annoying) and this one. There's never really a need to massively over spec any single character, and given the variety of the trials there's an incentive to make sure everyone's evenly specialized so this planet's difficulty is definitely an outlier.

I seem to be stuck mid-game. I brought back the Aletha, activated the Polyhexadendronthingy, wiped out the red raider factory, hit 100 explored anomalies, found several brass pieces and pyramids, activated the heretic gates.. and now the only "revisit" spots are the Star Lance and 3 traders, supposed to find the Nimions I guess, but nowhere to be seen. No further convos on the base either. Any ideas?
The only open mission I have is the hidden tomb (got through it, obtained the item).

Edit: Found it. For some reason, I seem to have overlooked a planet that I am sure I had surveyed before, but didn't again, or something. Opened a portal and the story is moving on.

I'm currently stuck on the devout keys. I've finished the arkadian questline and gotten keys 2 and 3, but 1 just refuses to drop from the devout. Currently unsure if its a bug or if i'm just obscenely unlucky. I've submitted my save file ingame.

You also need to visit the Chariot before the third key will drop

Was stuck for a bit on buying the archive crystal, either several of the merchants didn't have it for sale, or it was lost somewhere in the list of artifacts I had sold them. Would help if it was placed at the top of the list, and available from all guild traders.

looks like that worked, but i can say with confidence that I had already done that, so i'm guessing there was some error with it registering.

? The transponder log had a reference to a "Half Chariot"
-> The CXTA transponder powered itself up near 13.38 x -0.60 Lt. Gliese thinks it may be near its vessel's location

Already found the "half chariot" before the transponder went off but it doesnt forward the mission and the CXTA have nothing to say.

Is it simply to point me to where I can pick up fragments of the half chariot?

have 2 of 3 encrypted keys, read a post in here somewhere that says to go visit the guild traders and then you will find the 3rd key somewhere somehow.

Visited them, then went back to the chariot and killed everything in the area about 4-5 times over, still no 3rd key.

you might just need to visit the chariot again, it's what fixed it for me.

If you can shoot me your save (F8 in game) I can take a look. The two most common causes of being blocked are not interacting with the Chariot or not completing the Arkadian questline.

What is the "Arkadian Questline"? I "sent" my savegame in the F8 menu.Do I need to copy and paste it here? This game is really frustrating.There are references to things that arent obvious or easy to understand at all.

Have I already reached as far as the current iteration?Do I just need to wait for the next patch to provide more content?

Should I start over and be more careful?Did I do something or NOT do something that has now stranded me with no possibility of continuance?

I go there routinely and it still says you cant get in because of the jammer.I have 2 of 3 keys and no matter how many times I visit the trade guild, nothing changes.

Its extremely frustrating to be told "just do this" then I do and nothing changes.

I don't get an alert when a save is submitted so in the future leave a comment in a discussion thread so I know to look for it.

There's an area you missed to the SW of trail of debris in the green nebula: keep following it past the wreck. This will open up the Arkadian quest (The idea was that the further south region wasn't supposed to be visible until players did this, but apparently depending on sensor levels it can be detected and players head straight to id).
