Stuck on Forbidden Planet
I understand that I am supposed to pick up the copper from the crashed ship on the nearby planet, and then give it to the Eymyr, but I have finished survey and mission on that planet, but I am not getting any different dialog options from the Eymyr.

Did I screw something up? lol

What dialogue choices are they offering you?

Hey justkevin.

They only say this planet is forbidden, and the option I get is End Conversation.

I am definitely not in any rush, so please go enjoy the holidays! :)

I got this as well. I believe there's a trigger with either:
- One of the other races' dialogue options (e.g. what do you know about the Eymyr?); or
- A survey of one of the planets with context about the Eymyr in that encounter

Yeah, you can't bribe them until you talk to (uh, someone, I think it may be the Goryr?) who tell you that the Eymyr are open to bribes. Then you get a bribe conversation option. I think that's right.

I don't think that's true.
I spoke to the Eymyr, who told me the planet was off-limits, then I surveyed the adjacent planet which had the crashed ship. The log file of the crashed ship indicated that the copper was a bribe (maybe that was an officer check?), and from that point I was able to request that the Eymyr go fight the Red Raiders.

I did all of that without leaving the system, so no conversation with any other species.

Yeah, that sounds right. I couldn't remember since it was early on but I knew there was something that had to happen before you got the ability to offer them a bribe.

The additional conversation option appears when you bribe the Ermyr with the copper you found on the nearby planet. It won't appear if you don't have the copper. Possibly the mission should eventually draw attention to the ship's log.
Ok, I figured it out. I feel like a dumb dumb.

When I crafted my mini battery, it dropped me below the 15 copper, so I went and mined up more, and the conversation option was available.

Sorry about the waste of time, lol. And thank you.

I had a problem with this quest as well. After PROMISING the Ermyr that we would not land on their planet, I played through the rest of the game until I was soft locked. Finally, I decided I had to break my promise to progress, and guess what? Not only did I find the puzzle artifact, but as soon as I returned to the station, Cdre. Yu initiated the Aletheia story. I hope that the Ermyr story gets fleshed out to provide other ways to progress the game without breaking your word for no better reason than idle curiosity. That just makes no sense.

@SnowPyr Two things: 1) The initial Emryr are less of a threat than the Red Raiders, so angering them has no real impact on anything except for that you no longer have someone to trade Copper with. 2) You need to visit the other planet, and not spend the copper. The option to get them to work with you requires 10 or 15 copper, so if you spent it on a new battery, then the dialogue option wouldn't pop up until you had 15 or so copper again on hand.
SnowPyr Apr 2, 2023 @ 3:23pm
I never heard them say "Oh, now that you've given us this lovely copper, by all means, land on this planet." It has nothing to do with $ or threat - it's a question of motivation and character. We made a promise that we have no logical reason to break. Esp since it was not a just personal promise, but essentially a treaty between 2 entire races. Until I get their permission, I should not land on that planet, especially since I have no reason to believe there is anything there. There are "anomalies" in every system, and most of the time they amount to no more than a few handfuls of rocks or curious scientific oddities.
Palandus Apr 2, 2023 @ 3:28pm
Well, I never heard them say they claim this planet in the name of Emryr either, or that landing on it would be a declaration of nuclear war between our peoples. So, I assumed that after paying them off, they'd be okay with it. And they were. They only attack you if you don't pay them first.

Think of them like a bridge troll. You pay the troll, its fine with you crossing the bridge. Don't pay the troll and it attacks if you cross the bridge.

When you give the Emyr Captain 10 copper, he says:

"We will summon the fleet and dispatch this pestilence from the region. I will trust you not to try to land on this planet in our absence."

I was briefly on the edge about what to do, but I decided it was them saying it with the expectation you would do it but with plausible deniability for missing it.
Palandus Apr 3, 2023 @ 5:23pm
Personally, I have landed on the planet and angered them and it has had zero impact on the story. Yes you encounter the second Legion in latest opt-in, but the 2nd legion doesn't care. The emryr you first encounter are weak, and almost helpless. A single red raider cruiser often dispatches two-three of them with ease. The only real negative is you don't have a copper trader (not a massive loss) and you miss out on about 150 points of research data from purchases from them.

Also that text must be quite new, because I've never noticed it before. Or you get it by doing conversations with them in a certain order.
