controls?

i'm having a hard time playing because I cant figure out how to pick things up, i tried pressing all buttons but nothing seems to work.

I don't know if you ever figured it out. Went on the boards to try and solve this issue myself and I finally figured it out - for me, my controls were movement all on WASD and to pick up, hit the spacebar. Hopefully spacebar works for you.
