I assume it must not be giving any error message?
Is the process just running in the background and is steam friends saying you're in-game when you're not?
Does the screen flash black then go back to desktop?
Or does nothing happen at all?
It does not give me any error message.
First off, it's best to always try Validating your game files first when you're having issues. You can read to the bottom of our FAQs to find out how to Validate your game files. If that doesn't fix it, try my next suggestion.
Second, I would force the game to start in a supported resolution by setting it in the launch options. You can do this by going to your Steam Library and right-clicking on ZPS. Go to Properties and then open "Set Launch Options". In the text box input "-w 800" (without quotations), and then click OK and try launching the game. That launch option will force your game to launch at 800x600 resolution (you can specify another resolution if you wish). If that doesn't fix your issue, I suppose try changing the -dxlevel to whatever, which I'll explain next.
Third, if the other methods don't work then maybe you'll want to try setting the directxlevel the game runs at to something else. You do this in launch options as well by using this command "-dxlevel XX" (again without quotations). XX refers to the level you want to set it to, which your options are - 80, 81, 90, 95, or 98. I would try setting it to each different one and launching your game to see if it will work.
Other than that I don't really have any more suggestions for you at the moment.
Thank you so much for your help.
Well you can remove that stuff from your launch options now, and it should be saved to that resolution. But you can now go back into options in-game and set your resolution to whatever and it should still work fine unless it gets set to a resolution that your system doesn't support. If it starts happening again just set your resolution through the launch options again.
This seems to be a problem that is specific to Windows 10 as I have experienced the same and went back to 7. It's good to know that our assumed fix actually works. Thanks for confirming!
This of course won't be a problem once 3.0 is released :)
So this is not a bug or glitch that can be fixed at all, and so it won't be fixed with the release of v3.0. This is just a user error.
I ran ZPS fine on Windows 7, switched to Windows 10 and I got the same error as hamatank. So, I don't think it's because of his monitor but rather Windows 10 not being able to communicate properly with ZPS 2.4.1. Likely do to the older engine.
I may be wrong but there's a distinct pattern between this and Windows 10, and 3.0 does not cause this on Windows 10 :)
You need to create a new thread detailing your problem, don't post it here.
We need more information than "the game doesn't work". You need to tell us what you're doing and what's going on.
If you have Quicktime installed, uninstall it, it's a known issue with 3.0
