Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Red Alert not working on Windows 8
Not sure if it's driver issue or Windows 8. But when I went to change graphics setting form the lowest setting to high, the game just crashed. I then proceed to try it in Vista mode Sp 2, but the game failed to even start twice. Then with Windows XP same outcome. So if I'm correct, this game is very unstable.

Well, I did find a fix in the end. But you need to add the app from the steam folder; SteamApps, Common, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 and use that. Not the steam version that's found under the steam game library. Just add RA3 app in Vista mode, some of the others modes don't work.

i found the solution the windows 8 don't have any problem , the problem came from the game it self i download the red alert 3 12.1 v crack only and replace the files and it will work fine without any windows mode compability :D

I have had every last one of my Steam games crash on first run on Windows 8-- just reopen it, the problem will sort itself out.
Darius is right, we need to set plain Vista Compatibility Mode of this local .exe + switching off the enhanced DPI scalling setting for that file at the same place under right mouse click on the file — and the game will working fine, also in HD mode.
On some machine set off DPI option is enough.

Same problem here... "Please make sure you have Direct X 9.0 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the Display control panel"

Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 8670D graphics, up to 4196MB total available graphics memory.. I know thats not the problem

Also downloaded an old version of Direct X 9.0 with no luck.....

Please help!!! Any suggestions??

Worked for me ever since I installed it. When I first changed resolution screen went black but when I killed the process in TM and started it again it worked fine.

I would suggest looking for config file somewhere and changing values manualy..

This is what I found on EA website after 5s google search ->

Go to the location of the game's executable. This is typically found in directory
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3 Uprising\RA3EP1.exe
Right-click on the RA3EP1.exe icon and select 'Create Shortcut'
This will create a shortcut of the executable within the same folder
It should be named
Windows XP - Shortcut to RA3EP1.exe
Windows Vista - RA3EP1 - Shortcut
Right-click on this new shortcut and select 'Properties'
Add a space to the end of the string in the 'Target' field, followed by a dash '-' and then on of the command line parameters shown below
For Horizontal Resolution type in
-xres
For Vertical Resolution type in
-yres

It is gonna be the same for Win8 for sure. good luck
