Red alert 3 wont launch: Steam error 51
Anyone got any ideas on how to get it to actually launch? It keeps steam error 51'ing. Uprising though for some bizarre reason works flawlessly. Everything on my end is up to date, files are intact, reinstalling doesn't help, nor is anything blocking it. Comparability mode settings or anything else don't change the situation. Neither does running it as admin.

Just seems to be broken.

Yes I see that also, I'm wondering if it's because I played Red Alert 3 through EA Play previously? Maybe there are old conflicting install files still and are messing with the new Steam version? The EA version works fine, the Steam version does not, I also see no CD Key for the Steam version

Uprising has no online functionality, so I wouldn't be suprised.

Try installing the game in the original steam directory.

In your steam Directory
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3

- Copy the RA3.exe
- Rename it to "Launcher.exe"
- Run the Copied .exe

Custom,it indeed worked, but kinda weirdly. So i did get the game to start, but it didnt show me as playing in steam. Now i have the launcher copy in the CAC Red Alert 3 folder, i can start the game with the original launcher, it shows up that im playing in steam, BUT it takes like 30+ SECONDS to get it started. is it bc i run an old game in windows 11?

I had no luck using Custom's suggestion. It continues to Steam error 51.

make the copy of ra3 exe and rename it like custom said, then drag and drop it to desktop and try from there

You need to use the ra3 quick loader to make the game start faster: https://github.com/lanyizi/RA3Bar-RA3Launcher/releases/tag/v0.92

The problem with me was my virus scanner. So, I set up an exclusion for RA3 so it wouldn't scan it again, and it worked for me.
