Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Newbie advice? Keeping Natasha alive, etc?
I've been loving this game so far, lot of fun. Hadn't played an RTS game since the 90s, and the only strategy game I've beaten is the latest XCOM. Stuck on mission 4 in the Soviet campaign, Geneva. Krukov keeps getting defeated and it's not going well.

Any general advice for a noob? A couple little things, when I see an area being attacked I often just hit "q" to select everybody and have them attack there. Do they automatically just attack nearby enemies? I can't tell if I select say a vehicle for everyone to attack if they'll just stand around after destroying that one target.

Also, what's the difference between right-click attacking, hitting "A" to make the cursor different and send them to attack, and just sending somebody somewhere (where I assume they'll attack if under fire from enemies automatically?)

Also, Natasha just keeps dying, even when I keep an eye on her. Is there any way to heel Natasha? And advice for keeping her alive? Random quirk, once I put her into a purple transport (Krukov's I think) there was no eject button since it's out of my control. Is that a bug?

On making units, I'm getting the feeling that attack vehicles should be my #1 thing? It feels like all my soldiers get mowed down, even the badass mecha troopers and bazooka guys.

And is there any way to change the queue order of what gets built between different things? For example if I queue up a ton of soldiers and also a ton of vehicles and I'm running low on cash, can I make the soldiers a lower priority? Or I guess I should just pause the soldiers?

Another thing that gets me is remebering to build a lot of both water and land vehicles. This map felt like it was mostly land, but I also need a lot of boats to beat at least one base. But then the boats aren't useful after that.

Anyhoo, if you read all of that you're a saint! Thanks for any advice.

(Edit: Beat Mission 4, read a guide about Soviet units and whatnot, but still, thanks for any advice in general!)

I'd say to keep natasha or any character that isn't a tank alive,
Garisson
Those buildings aren't there for ♥♥♥♥♥ n giggles they are there to keep units safe and able to fire, Just keep your eyes out for peacekeepers or anything that can kill all units in a garrison without dealing damage to the building, Then you evacuate them

Boats or tanks not useful anymore?
Do you have the crusher crane in said mission?
If you wanna heal natasha capture a hospital or kill enough with her to raise her to HERO status and she'll heal automatically, Or simply let her open a box with a bunch of green +'s on it and it'll heal her

Hitting A to make the cursor different means that rather than ignoring anything WHILE their moving they'll stop to shoot anything in their way whether its harming them or not
