Worth it for the SP?
Its been a looooong time since I've played a C&C game, and seeing this one on the summer sales, makes me wanna play a C&C game again. Now, I could care less about the MP, I just wanna know if this game is worth playing for the SP experience?

The campaign is reasonably hard, but the skirmish AI is nothing special. You can of course try to beat it on brutal difficulty, but that is ill adivsed at best, since it cheats worse than on any C&C game made by Westwood. Despite all that, it's good enough for a casual game here and there.
Gotta say I enjoyed it very much. SP is pretty hard (even on normal), which is a nice change considering that most single player affairs nowadays tend to be one sided steamrolls. On the other hand the humor is godlike. No, really, I haven't played such a fun strategy campaign choke full with great humor in ages. You'll probably giggle with glee half the time one of the many many gags pops or another absurd situation happens, or roll on the floor laughing. The video sequences are superb, played by great actors and full of funny little details (you wouldn't believe what kind of stuff people put on their working desks in the RA universe). There are some pretty unique missions in the campaigns as well, story is solid but the main thing keeping you going is the humor and great presentation.

Gotta say that the SP campaigns alone are worth the few bucks you have to pay during the sale. Multiplayer matchmaking will become more inconvinient to pull off once the GameSpy servers shut down, but there is already a replacement server in the works that'll go live when the official servers go down: http://www.gamereplays.org/kaneswrath/portals.php?show=page&name=gamespy-closure-new-service-announcement.

Recommendation: Buy the game, its awesome. No, really, it is. Any game with ship sinking killer dolphins, war bears, tachikoma style Soviet spider mechs and Japanese psionic school girls ripping tanks apart deserves a try.

I picked this up and have been enjoying the SP story. It's kind of fun seeing the cast of this perform.

Buy it! It´s actually a REAL rts-game... not those wanna be cripples without base-building (tower-defense, moba). If you liked C&C, Red Alert, Warcraft 2, KKND, etc. you will love both - campaign and skirmish. I just wished, that there was at least ONE other publisher besides blizzard (starcraft) bringing out those games...

I quite liked the SP, it was both challenging and fun. I think this game is definitely worth your money. The ability to choose which faction you're going to fight for offers a sense of variety, giving you the option to be the good guys, bad guys, or the Soviets caught in the middle. :claugh:

You get a co-commander for every mission, who can actually save your life if you are in danger. You get to order them around as you please, telling them who and when to attack or move. If you don't feel like playing with the computer, play with a friend, as there is also CO-OP CAMPAIGN! (Something I REALLY love to see in games.)

Although I feel that the defenses are a bit overpowered, it quickly balances out when you start bringing out the heavy units. I won't spoil any more, so I will end it off by saying this:

All in all, it's a pretty dang good game.

Oh, and did I mention the cutscenes? REAL people, doing REAL acting. THAT's something you don't see in an RTS game.

The game is a lot of fun. The only thing I have a problem with is how the resources work. There are just gold mines by the base and a couple here and there. I missed sending out ore trucks and having to worry about them being attacked or attacking the other teams resource production. Kinda kills that aspect of the game but otherwise still fun.

So far I have not had a single ounce of fun with this game, which many of the hours so far as dedicated to the woefully inadequate single player campaigns. I have to PUSH myself to attempt to even play them let along NOT enjoy them, which defeats the purpose of playing a game, which this title is not. The campaign is garbage of the highest order and the only reason people gave it a free pass was because they WANTED a new RA title to be good, and EA knows this so all they did was add the normal bad acting cut scenes and that was enough for the fans apparently, not the gameplay. Everything about the missions is broke and just punishing to the point of asking why bother, the coop is also punishing, why, why did they feel the need to FORCE the player to share ore what was the point of that, nothing just another way to punish the player. At $10 during the 2014 summer sale I still feel completely ripped off, and now that EA is being, well EA they are further cutting the game by removing their servers, thus gutting coop entirely.
