LAN Same CD Key Error
Trying to play a LAN game, two steam copies, both with distinctly different CD keys, and yet upon attempting to join each other's games it flags it as a the other person already using the same CD key and doesn't allow us to join.

Anyone got any idea how to deal with it?

Go to regedit --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3\ergc ---> There you can change your cd key, Just change this %CDKEY% to random numbers

So what i basically did , I change it first , I launch the game (Steam will change it back to %CDKEY% if you click on launch), AND i change it again under 5 seconds , Don't wait until you are in game , you have to change it again immediately , Otherwise it wont work

BOOM , you can play with your friends on LAN

If this can help anyone else that has this issue, there is no need to open red alert 3, wait a few seconds and then modify %CDKEY% in the registry.

You can simply change the default value.
For me it was stored here : .steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Command and Conquer Red Alert 3/installscript.vdf.
I simply changed %CDKEY% to 12345678

No clue where this is. Is this in reg edit? Is this game files? I don't have a ".steam" fine anywhere on my computer.

It's the folder where your game is installed, which can be anything anywhere. I don't know why that user mentioned their broader system paths, it'll be different for most of us especially since they're using a Linux distro. "...steamapps\common\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\installscript.vdf" is what you're looking for, open installscript.vdf with a text editor.

If you don't know where your game is installed, you can simply right click it in your Steam library, then click "Properties", "Installed Files" and then "Browse"
