Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Need help with my game, it doesn't open completely
Hey so I've been browsing the web for hours trying to find a solution. I even went into this discussion page in Steam to find for a solution. I have tried to do a lot of things that people say might fix the problem. So far nothing have worked.

The thing is that when I launch the game it takes around 10-20 sec for the game icon to pop up on my screen. After a short time it closes and then the game never opens again like it should. So the game launcher starts and loads but not the game itself.

It have worked on this PC before but I don't remember what did so it stopped working.

I do use C&C Online to play online when I want to. It have worked for a long time but now it never works and a message appear saying "CA public key patching routine failed". I do not know what this means but I was guessing it was about the serial key. I have gone into regedit.exe and into the Red Alert 3 folder to edit the key and add in "-" between every four numbers. This still didn't make it work. I also tried updating DirectX and I have also tried to change so the game is running in windows 7 and have tried on other ones too and it still didn't work.

The thing that confuses me is the message from C&C Online and why the launcher starts up but not the game itself after. Anyone that knows a solution to this?

Block the game’s network access in your firewall. The game would then launch instantly.

Try this: https://www.gamereplays.org/community/Fix_Does_your_RA3_takes_too_long_to_startn_try_RA3_QuickLoader_-t1013524.html

This is a new exe that essentially does the firewall thing. The reason behind you would block it is that the game tries to connect to a now-defunct server (the one for Comrade News). This new exe disables the connect on launch to the defunct server; so you don't need to block it in your firewall now.

And if this doesn't work, it might be a DirectX error, of which I have something to fix with.

It is not about anti-virus programs or firewall. I have been there done that nothing works. I have tried to update DirectX, I have even downloaded the DirectX version that the game originally uses that can be found in the game folder itself. I am not sure what is my problem since I cannot see any crash reports.

I was able to kind of fix the problem by downloading the newest patch 1.12 from C&C Online's page.

But now I get a new error saying "The game can not start, There seems to be a problem contacting the license server. Ensure your internet connection is active and try again in a few minutes."

This is the Steam version, right? It already comes as version 1.12--that patch is mainly for disk users only.

Which DirectX package did you download? The one you need to install is DirectX 9.0c, which you can get easily from here in its unpackaged form: https://mega .nz/#!4UJDQQqT!YaE5cM7BUH5Cd1hzW23oThXKVHwZcIKbLzHXJ1766mg

Just remove the space in between the "a" and the "."

It also sounds like you may have really screwed with the game's files. Might need to reinstall it. Sometimes the best thing to do is to start at the beginning.

The launcher I linked just bypasses that extra step that takes a eternity to get past.

For the firewall, I know you said that you've checked it before, but make sure both RA3.exe AND ra3_1.12.game are added into the exceptions list.

If you followed the guide on C&C:Online concerning the ergc field in your registry, you might want to double check that.

Also try setting the game to Windows XP SP3 compatibility.

For some reason it worked by just closing steam completely and then open the game. After that all I had to do was to login to steam and then the game was good to go. Now I can even open the game from steam without any problems. Which solution but it worked.
