Red Alert 3 Will Not Launch on Win 10

I tried the Steam version, the Origin version as well as the Premier Edition DVD that I purchased years ago. Both the Steam version and the Origin versions showed my hard disk running -
I can see the power light flashing but nothing popped up - no sound, graphic or cutscene. The DVD version could launch, and the tutorial works, but after updating using the launcher, the game no longer works. I also tried downloading the v1.12 patch on a third party site for the DVD version but it does not help. The game appears to be not working but one of the executables appear to be running in the background on Task Manager. Between playing a completely unpatched game and not being able to play a fully patched game, I decided to put the game on hold until the community figures out how to help players get this game working again. My theory is that the patches must have changed something that made the game incompatible with Win 10 but I have no idea what it is. I have uninstalled the game for the time being. I really hope the community fixes this. I might instead see if anyone has uploaded videos of the cutscenes because I have never tried playing through the game to see the plot.

If RA3 is taking ages to load before it eventually starts up, that's due to the game trying to connect to a now-defunct server, specifically the Comrade News server.

Works like a charm in making RA3 load up as fast as TW and KW; it makes the game not check for that server. It doesn't crack it or anything--RA3.exe is essentially a launcher for the game; the actual game file is ra3_1.12.game. The -ui thing is also incorporated into RA3.exe instead of the main game file.

Yes, the games do work on Windows 10. For the older disk versions (pre-C&C3), you'll have to patch them with no-CD patches as to bypass the SecuROM DRM--why do you need to do this? Windows 10 doesn't support that DRM anymore; plain and simple. You'll also need to patch each one to their most recent game versions.

Everything at and above C&C3 should work normally as long as you patch them appropriately.

If you have digital copies of the games, you should be good as far as updating/no-CD patching.

Maybe try launching it in windowed mode? That sometimes solves the issue

Unless you can find an official site or a trusted site that has the no-cd patch it would be safer to buy a new copy from Steam or EA. Sites that put up no-cd patches may have viruses or malware or even ransomware. I had ransomware attack on my laptop on one occasion years ago. If you have great faith in your antivirus app and you want to try your luck by all means go ahead and download from those third party sites..

Yep; if you're using the Steam version, just replace the old exe with the one I've linked and it should boot up like normal.

There are instructions in there concerning The Ultimate Collection if one has that and finds this.

HOLY !! I search for two days finding solution to this almost give up. I can confirm it works on origin version too.

Whats an "origin version"? mine doesn't open either and gives me a message "ensure i have Direct X 9 or higher and make sure display isnt enhanced" What the heck.. I have direct x 12 and display settings have all been on "balanced" forever.

"Origin version" means the version of the game from EA's Origin launcher. Could be The Ultimate Collection, could be a standalone copy.

Basically EA's finniky version of Steam 🙃

As for the DirectX error, grab this from my Vault, unzip it into a folder, and run DXSETUP.exe. It's the DirectX 9.0c Redistributable package from Microsoft. It adds in some extra support files for the games, since that's the version of DirectX they run on. ONLY UNZIP THE FILE YOU DOWNLOAD; those other .zip files you see inside of it need to stay zipped up--just leave them be.

Delete that space between the "e" and the "a" in the link, and paste it into your web browser (Steam hates direct MEGA links )

After unzipping and running DXSETUP.exe, feel free to delete the folder afterwards, as you no longer need those setup files anymore.
