Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Crashes every 10 - 15 minutes in Windows 10
Game runs great but then it crashes out of nowhere after 10-15 minutes.
I've tried everything:

- Updated GFX drivers
- Verify game cache
- Offline steam
- Online steam
- Adding nodvd patch (to legally bought version)
- Low gfx settings
- High gfx settings
- Reinstall
- Changing compatibility mode to about every option available
- Buying and trying the Origin version (same issue)
- Turning off visual keyboard

And all the other 'fixes' I could find. All the C&C games seem to have this problem for me. I don't have issues with other games...

For me, changing compatibility mode to vista SP2 makes it crash every 20-30 minutes. It's a small improvement to crashing every 10-15 minutes.

I tried everything too, then came across the solution on another forum:

whitelist the red alert 3 applications in your antivirus.

I am using Bitdefender which was causing the problem!

I was experiencing the same issue with random but constant crashes of RA3 and Windows 10, I was almost blaming my high-end hardware!
I also tried on another Windows 10 machine with average characteristics with no luck- it turned out that the common piece of software was, indeed Bitdefender.

I have solved it by following @quenzer's hint by adding an exception in my Bitdefender 2020 Antivirus.

I managed to do it by goint to Protection > Advanced Threat Defense > Manage Exceptions > Advanced Threat Defense > + Add An Exception > Allow any option you have in this menu.

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried to whitelist the RA3 executable with AVG?

Hello, I had the same problem. In addition, only playable in 640x480 and it was extremely jerky.
After a long search I found a .7z file. I mean the site was called bitpatch.com
There was a text file called "aqrit.cfg" with the following content:

RealDDrawPath = AUTO
BltMirror = 0
BltNoTearing = 0
ColorFix = 0
DisableHighDpiScaling = 0
FakeVsync = 0
FakeVsyncInterval = 0
ForceBltNoTearing = 0
ForceDirectDrawEmulation = 1
NoVideoMemory = 0
SingleProcAffinity = 0
ShowFPS = 0

as well as a direct draw dll. Maybe dx9?

After inserting these two files in the installation folder, all problems were gone.
Maybe it will help.
