Probably you should choose an right IP address in the Game's Network setting.
By the way, why don't use C&C:Online[cnc-online.net] instead? That's an online server (not LAN emulator like GameRanger) where you can find much more players.

C&C Online won't work for me. Game crashes after that logo screen appeared and IP address choosing changed nothing.

Well if both GameRanger and C&C:Online aren't working for you... I've run out of ideas. Try to disable your Antivirus and run everything with administrator privileges + run everything in compatibility mode?
BTW, did you hook Red Alert 3 (there is a hook menu on C&C:Online program) when you were trying with C&C:Online? Steam games usually need to be hooked, otherwise it won't work.

Yeah, Did all of them. im not the only one tho who has game crashing with C&C Online. Read some forums that some other players had it too but didn't find any solution. Tried even doing some firewall changes and stuff but still nothing.

Rename your RA3.exe folders if ones called RA31 and the other RA32 try switching the names e.g the RA31 is now called RA32

I'm having a similar issue. Only whether I host a game or join a hosted game with my bf, my RA3 loads to menu and then that's it. Just sits there. It's like I manually opened the game. It's supposed to automatically join the hosted game/create the hosted game and both players should be automatically added. It worked fine on my main desktop computer running Windows XP professional 64 bit, but the power supply decided to randomly die on me...so I'm using my bf's laptop which asks permission for everthing and firewalls everything...I turned run as administrator on everything! Steam, RA3, and Game Ranger, plus tried in compatibility mode and not in compatibility mode...but same issue no matter what. I finally just turned the firewall off, but now when we try...the game wont even launch now. I get an error saying an instance of the game is already running and it just closes. I'm ready to cry. This is insane. I can't figure out what's wrong with this laptop that it wont run the friggn game from the laptop. It's windows 8. My bf runs it from his laptop under Vista, my desktop on XP is fine too...so what the FACK is wrong???????

Does C&C:Online[cnc-online.net] work for you?

I was reluctant to have to create yet more logins and passwords, but I went ahead and tried. After an hour of playing around with it, and editing my Options.ini file, and uninstalling gameranger, I got it to work with C&C:Online

Thanks :)
