Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3

Red Alert 3 Is very laggy
My spes are better than the recommened requirements and I can't even run the game at medium settings, I get like less than 20fps. What is wrong?

Edit: So I just ran into an even bigger problem. I went into the game files and ran this program called DXSETUP, thinking it would solve the problem. And now, the game runs even worse than before! Now when I play on very low, I get less than freaking 15fps, even just the menu runs at lower than 20fps. This is so frustrating, because now I can't even play! Any help?

What are your specs?
BTW make sure that RA3 is using your dedicated graphics, not your integrated graphics

How do you make it use my dedicated gpu?

If you are using a Desktop computer then your game always use the dedicated GPU;
It might also be a software issue, try reinstalling DirectX 9.0C 32 bit from Microsoft's website, and try to update your graphics driver as well.

BTW, your specs (especially GPU) is just above basic specs, and it's lower than recommended specs.

The recommended gpu is GeForce 9800GT (or anything better) , and 9800GT is better (in most of parameters) than your HD 6450...

It seems like that you are using a laptop computer, then make sure your game is using your dedicated GPU in NVIDIA Control Center, preferably play when power is plugged in and make sure your laptop is not in energy saving mode.
Just FYI, my laptop with NVIDIA 840 + i5 4210U with Windows 10 run RA3 on high settings without any problem..

Are you joking? 9800 - is DDR3 512Mb graphic card from 2008 year, he (she) has 6450 - DDR5 1024Mb card from 2011. It's much more better.

Try to reduce shader level in graphic options (I don't know, how it called in your localisation, something about shaders). Reducing this from high to standard gave me 30 fps instead of 15.

It's not said that every 6450 have GDDR5, many of them have DDR3.
9800GT's graphics clock and processror clock are 600MHz and 1500Mhz, meanwhile 6450's engine clock is 625 Mhz;
9800GT's memory bandwidth is 57.6GB/s, meanwhile 6450 (even with GDDR5) is 28.8 GB/s;

6450's Pixel Rate: 2.50 GPixel/s
6450's Texture Rate: 5.0 GTexel/s
6450's Floating-point performance: 200.0 GFLOPS

9800GT's Pixel Rate: 9.60 GPixel/s
9800GT's Texture Rate: 33.6 GTexel/s
9800GT's Floating-point performance: 336.0 GFLOPS

Thanks for the reply, but since then I have upgraded my PC to something that can run this at max settings.

Ahh, alright. Good to hear. I'm sorta curious though, did you switch from a laptop to a desktop?

Nope. But I did switch from a prebuilt to a custom built.

So I see. Neat.
