The reason we go for JMT3 (and not with 1 and 2): it's the best of those 3 with the most recent gameplay elements.
though in this case I don't expect major changes. based on the first jewel match solitaire, you did a good enough job on that already (though there are still some bugs and annoyances) and the rest are just reskins with mahjong added for some reason.
I've been online since 1993 and my first ever video game WAS the first one .. pong. Yeah, in '93 we were still in shell accounts having to know Unix commands to get around on what was then the internet. No WWW, that came around shortly after windows computers were finally able to connect up in 1994 without having to go in via a shell. I build my own gamer boxes, Alpha/Beta test games for various game companies and I'm a 64 yr old grandma. Heh, now you know a bit about me.
I can tell you, that you have made the best connect 3 games I've ever played in your older games. I detest cards so have no interest in solitaire. Something happened after Twilight. The next 2 are totally changed .. no interest in them. Those areas that move the jewels for you ruin all the strategy required from a true connect 3 game. Please make some without that in them, like you used to. Make me think, make me figure out what I need to do and what I need to move to make the jewels fall where I need them when I anticipate what the AI of the game is gonna do. Timers, counters, etc, ruin a good strategy session for me. If a game has things that 'help' me along, I have no interest in it anymore. Twilight play on a game with a different theme would be perfect. My daddy passed away on Halloween night back in 1974 and I haven't engaged in that holiday since. Too painful.
I know ... shut up already. Sorry, I have all of your early connect 3's and love them. Thanks for reading this Devs.
We make M3 games since quite a while, and it is right that we experiment with new ideas almost each time. Some are good, some are less good ah ah.
The changes are mostly motivated by user's feedback and as you can guess, not all users play the same way. The main change between JMT1 and its sequels, despite the number of levels and other minigames, is the tile size. Tiles are smaller in JMT1 which means that the boards have more tiles. That's good if you have a big screen (or good eyes), not so good on a laptop. Also, each level have a 'special' board that unlock when you complete the level. This is no more the case in following games, where that special board have been designed as an independant level, available from the map. It is basically the same thing, but we considered that it gives more freedom to the user that way. I hear that some users are 'nostalgic' about that way of handling levels or about the board's size and we will take it into consideration. However it is quite unlikely that we switch back to boards with smaller tiles in future games.
It's really great to meet you. I've been a big fan since Jewel Match 1 and as I said, play Twilight every night for a few hours as I sip a glass of wine before I go to sleep.
His name is Monster, which he tends to be at times, so whoever gave him that name was cleaver. He's a Doberman, but a red Minature one. So he thinks he's a big tough doggie, but when he's about the size of a Chihuahua and wears a couple different hoodie coat outfits so he doesn't get cold when we go outside at night .... the neighbors all just go awwww, he's such a cute little guy. LOL.
I ended up with Monster due to him getting upset when my daughter's pit bull ate some of his food and he growled at Harley. Harley beat him up. Then the cat stole some of his food and he again growled at the cat. The cat beat him up. The next day he was here with me, where he could eat his food slowly and be assured I won't steal any of it. :)
After we go outside before we settle in for the night, we come in and I turn on Twilight, get my wine and I start playing. The music settles me down and now I've found out that Monster likes it as much as I do. It takes no time at all once I start playing and he's fast asleep and calm. I then wake him up after I'm done playing and he follows me to my bed where we both settle in under the covers. So your game that I've been playing nightly since it's release, now has another fan who loves the music at bedtime, even though he can't actually play it. LOL.
So again, thank you for your match 3 games. Please continue making them for Monster and I to enjoy. :) Yes I do have JMT3 ad it is awesome on my screen. JMT was actually the first 'program' I downloaded as soon as I got this new computer set up a couple months ago. Next month I hope to get an 8 tb drive so I can download all of my games again. I have 930 games just on Steam, GOG, Ubisoft and Epic. Then when you add in the other places online I've gotten them over the years .... too many to count.
I've been online since 1993 though, I was online before there even was a world wide web. LOL, ok, now I feel old. Hmmm, I am old, I'm 64. My 8 yr old gamer grandson thinks I'm cool though, cause I can play games with him and understand what he's talking about. His Momma doesn't game and he and I both think something must be wrong with her. Hehe. His uncles, my sons, both game also and have setups very similar to mine. They don't build their own computers though like I prefer to do.
OK, I'll stfu now. It's 3 am and I need to get sleep. Time to wake up the Monster and get us to bed.
Wish I could code, but I consider math a 4 letter word. Heh. I went the other way and enjoy the hardware side of computing and I was the first woman online to start and then run an IRC network for 15 years. We started XWorld.org in 1995 and had a good run. I'm still in touch with many of my former IRCops. I've been offered a hub server if I ever want to do it all again, but I'm just not sure it's worth it these days. Doubt many even know what IRC is.
You said "Also, each level have a 'special' board that unlock when you complete the level." a few posts back about JMT. That is my favorite thing about your games. It made them unique from all the other match 3's out there. The newer games wtihout that feel like they are missing so much. Just getting the stars to place the extra items is what made your games stand out and I hate not getting them every level with the newer games. To me it's more fun knowing each level I will get some and be able to add to the scenes I'm building. I'm not your common user though and am aware of that. I'm 64 yrs old and have been playing games for longer than most online have been alive. Heh.
