There's a note in an earlier zone that tells you the vampires used to use the blood of cattle to open the door, but I can't remember exactly where I found it.
Agree 100%. Forest gave you multiple ques through the environment.
I do agree that it could've been signposted a little better though, since you can access the area without ever having been to the Forest and not being guaranteed to have a blood spell yet.
Forbidden Archives possibly has the first encounter with these doors, yet even with all the books over the entire zone, nothing is even hinted at that you can even open them with spells.
edit: requires specific spells like the strange coin is a good example.
I disagree. Its part of how I figured it out for myself. The games pretty exploration focused, so running through a blood lake and coming upon a castle, my mind went to vampires, which had been mentioned in a lore book earlier in the game. I saw the sign next to the door which read "Cattle Cells", and putting vampire and cattle together, blood was the obvious answer. Having used the Blood Spray spell earlier in the game to interact with the plants/create a shortcut, I tried it on the pedestal, and it worked.
By no means do I think that that absolutely has to be the intended way to figure it out, and its also not perfect as I mentioned earlier, you may not come across the lore books I did, and may not have gone through the forest to get the spell/have the interaction with plants. But I'd think if it were that difficult to figure out, you'd see more threads on it here, which I personally haven't.
