Ways to kill Sucsarius with a dex build?
I spent almost all of my points on speed and dex. He seems to take next to nothing in damage when hit with either the twisted staff or wand of power. and nothing from the rifle. Has anyone taken him down with a dex build?

I don't really know how to take him down at all, honestly. It seems very weird for a boss design--nothing works. Maybe there's one of a dozen weird ideas that I could try but can't be bothered to that magically works, but it just feels unsatisfying.

Just get lava chasm or ice tear, with INT as my lowest overall stat it melts his health. Also twisted staff won't do much as I think he has some resistance to fire.

I keep hearing about Ice Tear but I have no idea where to find it, and I think I have nearly all spells.

Its in the chasm location.

Yeah you need ice tear. It's really stupid that its really the only viable way to take him out but, thats how it is. Until MAYBE the dev rebalances the fight.

i ran the same dex/spd setup (i think 100 dex and 60 or 70 spd?) and i took him down fairly easily with the jailor's candle, which is dropped by the jailors. still a very long fight but jumping around and staying far away helps

Jailor's Candle is the best way you're gonna whittle his health down more than his regen can heal as a DEX build, as I think it's the most efficiently powerful ranged weapon you can get at that point, maybe in general as I still haven't found anything better and I've beaten the game.

I didn't use this spell, I never even found it

I only had 20 dex, 10 str, and 10 int at the time of killing him. I used the double crossbow and the lightening spell. He's got a lot of health and resistances, and does a ton of damage, but as long as you keep circling, he will eventually go down

Fully charged double whammy Moonlight sword swings and Moon Beam melts him like butter. I was having so much trouble with him until I tried that combo and killed him first go.
Get the Icarian Flight spell if you don't have it already, theres a ledge you can jump to that you can take pot shots at him from while he only has I think one attack that can reach you. It'll probably take a while, and you'll want to get the Jailer's Candle as someone else mentioned, but its probably the most reliable way if you don't want to shove points into INT.

I was a melee build with 85 STR at the time and hadn't put a single point into INT, but trying to fight him made me get my INT to about 40 whilst I explored elsewhere and collected weapons/spells I hadn't gotten until I went back and used Ice Tear and it absolutely obliterated him. Kinda sucked having to completely throw away the playstyle I used the entire game, but the game was so good its very forgivable in the end.

collect all 3 black books. You can get one by leaping off the side of fanu castle, one from defeating prince crilal, and one from a passage in the catacombs. The third book will net you Moon Beam. Failing that collect Lava Chasm from Terminus prison. Lava chasm will slow Sucsarius up and deal damage and multiple moon beams will shred his health.

It does kind of feel like Sucsarius doesn't play well with a bunch of playstyles that work just fine up until then, unlike the Vampire boss who can be beaten with any playstyle if you play well (without it feeling like a massive slog, at least).

The problem is that Sucsarius is almost exlusively melee-focused, where he does plenty of damage, inflicts poison, and blocks, with plenty of melee range to make spacing and kiting in melee with him kind of pointless (or just exhausting).

He has literally one projectile attack that is super easy to dodge and is very telegraphed. I beat him using mainly Lava Chasm with some Blessed Wind spam thrown in, and it was mainly Lava Chasm carrying the day.

And considering that I was a Strength build with a melee focus, that feels really disappointing. I had been doing okay previously using Moonlight, but after a certain point Moonlight stops firing its charged projectile for some reason. My other melee weapons just weren't doing enough damage to keep up with his regen (and tanking the damage he was dealing me).

As for ranged weapons...the best I ever found were Double Crossbow and Twisted Branch. Which is just odd, because you can get Double Crossbow really easily and very early. Fishing Spear is good for its flexibility and respectable damage, but its really slow charge-up makes it kind of painful and slow in a long fight. By contrast, there are tons of late-game melee weapons to find (Limbo, Moonlight, Saint Iishi, Shining Blade, Blade of Ophelia, and more). If melee has a problem, it's that too many melee weapons are just bad by the time you can even get them. Only the bow has that problem for ranged.
Slime orb can halt his regen for a while, and is the safest bet because you can poison him from range. Light reveal says he's least resistant to dark damage.

privateer musket is dark damage so that would be good
