Yep, but the tart door notes mentioning screwing with the cycle of life and death got through to me and told me "so he CAN die or at least something can be done to him." so that reignited the hunt for a weapon on my side. Grabbing the fragmented death resource immediately screamed "This might be connected" since well.. it's literally called fragmented DEATH. The hints that Death is able to die or at least able to be screwed with are there but the actual fact that one of the resources required is moon-phase locked with no hint will always be bad imo. And even if they do make a hint, it'll feel bad since full moons aren't exactly a weekly thing.
edit: for clarity I started to publish it to Nexus but the game has to get added before the mod is published.
the Alchemy system and the magic ring system are lifted from a from soft game called Eternal ring. the only way to kind of know how to craft magic rings in Eternal ring is by reading the manual. another Trope in from soft games is reading the description of an item or material can give you a hint on how to use it. a couple of the materials in lunacid have descriptions like "can be used to make medicine"
another hint that Alchemy gives you is that when you select an item in one of the three slots. the next slot you open will give you a small handful of the materials that can work with that item. and then when you go to the next slot it gives you an even smaller handful of materials you can use.
oh and the fact that you guys are complaining about an item being only visible during a full moon is ridiculous
you want a hint for the item. but the entire game gives you hints... everywhere
like how you need three materials for Alchemy. and all three materials are in the same area.
if you read the manual it tells you the phase of the moon is a significant feature of the game
magic gets stronger the closer the phase of the moon is to a full moon
the skeleton in the hub area has a crown that's only visible during a full moon. this is a hint that certain things are only visible during a full moon
there are two weapons that are moon themed. and a weapon that gets stronger the closer it is to a full moon
the game itself is called lunacid. Luna is in the name. Luna means Moon
the corpse is leaning on nothing unless it's a full moon then the corpse is leaning on a sword that resembles the Moonlight blade. a blade that glows blue in a green area
also if you don't believe it's a secret ending the other two materials are behind hidden walls. one of which is the hardest to find hidden wall in the game
This is about the communication of mechanics, throughout the game we see (if we set the date to coincide with a full moon) that it affects gameplay mechanics; magic, anku etc. but there are no items that suddenly pop up except from the broken blade.
Apart from the single visual indicator that the skeleton seems to be leaning on a sword (which could be explained away by a player bumping into it and automatically and picking it up without realising, the one downside of auto pick up mechanics) and this visual indicator is easily missable.
It's also very unlikely that a player is going to stumble upon the fragment of life/the fragment of death without either prior knowledge or curiosity piqued by already grabbing the broken blade (kudos to you, Abyssal Crow, you're made different) as they both include vertical exploration combined with hidden doors.
By all means, if you managed to create Limbo without any help from a guide or forum discussions, all the more power to you but this isn't going to be the experience of 99.99% of others (that statistic is definitely 100% accurate by the way, it came to me in a dream)
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
