What do pronouns change?

New player, I'm wondering about the pronouns in the character select screen. Does it change how some NPCs interact with you? Does it change item rates, encounters or anything else? Why are you able to change your pronouns?

Those are just two examples. Women get raped in jails, people use laws to win competitions, people get bullied online for saying something, forcing certain views to others and expecting everything to fit for everyone. Of course I'm not saying all you people like this, on the contrary, just some bad apples. But these are existing issues and brings you people down.

ok after reading comments it seems like kira just added them to piss people off. that seems really childish to be in an actual game and seems like something that would be in some random ♥♥♥♥♥♥ roblox game, not a polished ̶s̶o̶u̶l̶s̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ game.

No. Kira posted posted an announcement addressing this specifically, arguments are being made in bad faith by people who are choosing to ignore it.

Pronouns are there to be inclusive but also to allow people to get more invested in their character from a roleplay perspective. It's great for those of us who want it, otherwise it's easy to ignore it. The only people this effects negatively are people who choose to feel outraged at everything, which is the real childish behavior here.

I mean, the word everything is a pronoun, an indefinite pronoun to be specific.

Earlier than that when I noticed them in Baulder’s Gate 3 I was happy that I could be my NB self, and thought wow I really should have added them in my Character Creator. In that address Kira says that the original intention was to make people angry. Then thought about the inclusion aspect but couldn't justify it in the game play. Then had the reason when he got mad. It was mostly about anger.

And as for that second quote about being whatever you want in a fantasy world I kind of disagree with. I personally prefer if a world is built with some thought rather than, "Lol, its fantasy, who cares?" If the world build supports such things than go for it. In the case of Lunacid, since its a post modern setting, I guess it can fit. But the point remains, in the end it was added because Kira was angry as is being self admitted in the address.
