The game autosaves every night. You can manually save by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner (≡), selecting the SAVE option, highlighting the file you wish to save to by clicking on it if it isn't highlighted already, then clicking on it again.

Learned this the hard way, but don't save on slot 1. The autosaves will overwrite it.
