I agree with you that the AI has no clue how to utilize rogues effectively enough for my tastes, that's why I will do everything I can to take control out of the AI's hands direct her personally.
I usually have in my party... Alistair, Morrigan, Wynne and me as a Rogue. Or... Me as a mage, Alistair, Wynne and Lelianna or Zevran. And while builds do matter, I think party members matter more.
All said, I would say before lowering your difficulty scale, take a look at who you are taking and what skill sets your are using also, lots and lots of potions and have the NPCs set to take a swig of potions when their life is >25%.
For the Zombies, make sure you do EVERYTHING before nightfall. All the little things to help out the villagers to survive.
Dragons, well... they are a pain in the, well you know. They are magic resistant to SOMETHING. every. single. one. of. them. Best way to proceed is to hack, hack, run, heal repeat.
also I don't think you mentioned what class you're playing? The best way to roll (imo) if you want a smooth ride is one rouge/one tank and two mages. You really should hit up the mage's tower first. After that it's a smooth transition to redcliffe followed by the urn of sacred ashes.
if you don't like to micromanage your team e.g/ pausing the game and controlling everyone- I would suggest you look up tactic guides online for each party member. there are quite a few handy ones.
got it, well make sure you have wynee then. invest in some of the glyphs or the hexes. Leliana not so good with a dualweilding rouge but as an archer she's quite good. Yeah get other stuff done and finish the forest after redcliffe/mage circle/ashes
Note: I didn't have Wynne in my party
Note 2: Remember to save after every little fight, in case you mess up in the next room
Note 3: If you step in a tripwire, all zombies will come for you
And i would say if you need Aoe Magic Skill First Skill on Fire and Thunder
(Bad English)
My Party is:
Me Twohanded
Alistair Tank
Morrigan Mixed Mage
Leliana Support Archer
