How to switch to turn-based combat?
Real Time combat (even with pause) is much too hectic for me.

That's not possible.

ya it not possible.. and not hard to pause plenty if need be lower difficulty, also make sure you set-up your companions stuff so they auto play without your input.

Could we have a remaster of the game with improved graphics and an option for turn-based combat?

lol :steamfacepalm: that no way happening and shouldn't.

Again just set up your companions Tactics (cheat if need be to get more combat tactics points)
Then you just have to control 1 person at a time and can easily press pause when needed.

Even if want turn based literally can by just pressing pause a lot... or just based on what would be a turn.. aka pause-do spell/ability with everyone-unpause-wait 5secs-repeat

Now if GTA 5 or Fortnite adds turn based that be interesting :D
This is an old post now, but just in case this helps at all, I recommend you check out the game Divinity Original Sin 2, as it plays similarly to this game in the open world sequences, but each time you encounter a battle (like once you’re close enough to the enemy) it automatically switches from persistent world exploration mode to a fully turn based battle system that is really awesome. In fact the reason I’m playing this game instead of that one right now is because my PC cannot handle the game even though I do have it. Instead of using my sister’s PC to play Divinity Original Sin 2, I decided to finally check out Dragon Age: Origins. And I love it personally. You must not have played games like Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, or Neverwinter Nights 😹 They too use this pause type battle system where you basically just manually play turn based… it’s kind of the same thing it’s just you have to actually hit the pause button (space bar) over and over again during combat. You really get used to it if you just try 🤷‍♀️
