Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins

Can't seem to bring myself to play Inquisition.
I've only played like the first hour of it and it just doesn't feel like a Dragon Age game. In my mind I'd rather just go through DAO all over again. Is it honestly worth playing?

I played Inquisition before, for atleast 50 hrs. I haven't got a clue about the lore and story, so I stop. Then I went back to Origins, and now everything is clear. I'm gonna play Awakening and DA2 next. Origins is a very good game, I honestly enjoyed it a lot, but I did also enjoyed Inquisition. I will play it again, jusr for the lore and story.

I've played Inquisition a bit, and I can say this about it:

It's fun. BUT: The first hour or two is sort of a slog. The setup for the story is good enough for me, but the Hinterlands are just cluttered with content-- which isn't a good thing. It sort of shoves everything in your face there before the pacing gets better.

Other than that, my only real complaints are a matter of tastes. It's a good game, though, so go ahead and try it out.

it was fun up until around 60 hours in and then the quests just started feeling forced, like they were just put in there to take up time. I would be fine with that if they were optional but they werent.

its a good game dont get me worng just slow compared to DAO and DA2.
I have 80 hours in Origin with Inquisition . There is too many side quest . That's a good thing because they help you with different items , upgrades etc. Sadly the main quests are few . You can finish the lore easily and there is nothing interesting in the lore . A bad guy wants to destroy the world and he wants to become a god . That's it . I don't know if its just me but you can't feel yourself inside the game . ( except the dawn will come scene thats no spoiler btw ) In DA2 you felt the pain of Hawke . You felt sorry for him/her , you laughed for her . But in DAI , I could'nt find that atmosphere . Origins and 2 are way better than Inquisition . However its'a good game but the story is weak . But it's still worth playing for =]
I have to tell the most important thing : You might be cancer while trying to complete some side quests

Funny I like DAO better even though the game goes without lead voice acting. I miss my Hero of Ferelden as if I am her. I like playing DAI but always got the feeling that I am watching someone else playing as hero.

Regarding side quests, I found those in DAO are kinda tedious. Some side quests in DAI has a better meaning. However, the map "The Hissing Wastes" is really a waste, nothing special.

Storywise, DAI becomes much worth playing if you have the Trespasser (DLC). As Trespasser really bring DAI to an end and serve as a bridge to the next installment.

I first played DAI due to a friend's influence and since then i just got more into it and ended up playing DAO (with all DLCs including Awakening) and DA2.

Hm, i only played DAI once. DAO, thrice. Awakening, once. DA2, twice. For all those, i played to finish all the quests i possibly could. I happen to like the lore and its sort of what keeps me going.

For me, i have to say that i truly prefer DAO out of all the others. There's a certain difficulty in DAO which makes me feel like my hero played the ultimate role in everything. Whereas in DAI, my hero was the center of it all but it didn't exactly feel like my hero made any significant change in the world. Its like, she just went with the flow of what the advisers suggested. It felt mostly like a chore only to get that mark off of her. There had been some parts in DAI where it did feel like she made a difference but no one was there to actually question or complain. They all just went along with my hero's decisions, i think. Unlike DAO, where your companions would go so far as to turn on you when they think you've done something unforgivable in their opinion. That aspect of DAO actually made me wary of the companions i took on quests and i even considered what my companions would think or how they could possibly react to my hero's actions. In DAI, they will disapprove but they won't go so far as attack you. At least, i haven't found one who tried.

Personally, i think DAI is fun... especially when you can use the Keep to change up the tapestry and mix up the history based on the checkpoints in DAO and DA2.

As Ninja Max above said, it's mostly worth playing if only to play Trespasser as well. Definitely something to look forward to, as well as the other DLCs i suppose. But Trespasser is definitely a must-play for DAI. It moves the story along.

Another thing to look forward to in DAI is the characters you'll met once again. Like Leliana, Flemeth and Morrigan from DAO. Especially Morrigan, if you decided to agree to the ritual in DAO. Oh, and Dagna too. It was really nice to see what became of that enthusiastic knowlege-seeking girl from DAO. You'll find out a bit more about Red Jenny which was mentioned in DAO.

I guess that's about it. To summarize, DAI is worth it for the added info in regards to Lore and to discover other races and lands. Especially Orlais, with it's Game of Intrigue. If you enjoyed Leliana's Song in DAO, then you'd enjoy Orlais in DAI. It's worth playing to discover what became of the characters in the previous games.

I really liked Inquisition, but it's different from the other Dragon Age games. If you try it, do yourself a favor and get out of the Hinterlands as soon as you can. The game really opens up once you do and becomes more fun. You can always go back and finish stuff up later.

I agree that if the main character is voiced, then the immersion is gone. it takes the role playing out of role playing. instead, I am just managing a bunch of NPCs if everyone is fully voiced.

Stuff like games where your protaganist has a few lines are OK; but when they are fully voice acted it can be hard to get into it.

The only real exception I'd found to that in recent times was Saints Row IV, which excelled in its absurdity to the extent that it was more realistic to see myself as a female elf lass than it was to be in an alien matrix, imbued with super powers while presenting myself as wearing a mind over murder space suit with the Ghenki Girls as party members, who help me on my random crime sprees while listening to psychadelic techno music.

As you can see, that can prove to distract from the fact that the protaganist is voiced fully in that game, where in the DO series, once your character is fully voiced... the ability to just mug someone and steal their horse to make up for that... it just isn't there.

DA: Inquisition is a morronic piece of garbage. Origins is still the best one.
