Tips for a new beginner?
Any tips for a new beginner
I'm pretty new to the Combat mechanic and a little bit confused
I gotten a little better at the combat 8/10 times i died at my First encountered this Real time Combat thing is harder then it looks
and i'm having a problem of choosing which mage is better Morrigan ( good for stunning enemies) or Wyne (a great healer)
My character class is Warrior
I use Dual wielding Idk if this is good
My party is : Me,Alistair,Morrigan, and Leliana
My Strategy is usually (Depends on the enemy of course)
Me, and Alistair at the front distracting the enemies
While Morrigan and Leliana Attack from afar
Also are the Tactics necesassry some people said its useless and some its vital
Also can you tell me what are reccomendation for Tactics for my companions I always mess with the Tactics a lot and i don't really know if they work or not and do they still work if their red??
I know this is alot but i'm just very new to this series and i'm having a lot of fun playing it

Warrior is good. Rogue can be much fun. Stealth in combat. Dual wield, etc. Remember secondary stuff like herbalism, TAB is your friend for finding codex for exp. Get that strength up, but sand bag your level up points (dont level up stats until you feel you need to, but level up other abilities). As a warrior you will be up front taking damage. Do the mage questline first, Have morrigan take healing skills as she levels, and you will have much fun. The rogue from the first town after Ostagar is a good companion. Get Sten from the cage and do two warriors and rogue and morrigan and you got a great group. Have fun.

(oh boy sorry this is so long, I'm not good at saying things simply)

If you're going to stick with your strategy of you & a warrior distracting in front and having two people using ranged attacks further back, I think Alistair and Sten are both fine choices- I think because Alistair has default a one handed sword and shield and Sten has a two handed sword that Alistair may attack slightly quicker. They can learn most of the same abilities and use the same kinds of weapons. However if you're going to stick with this strategy I do suggest you build up Alistair/Sten's constitution as much as you can and worry about how much damage they're dealing out later, because when the enemies are all focused on just two people then you two are going to get hit a lot.

As for Morrigan vs Wynne I would say Morrigan, since she has a lot of better attacks already and can be taught the heal ability relatively quickly.

Specifically regarding the elf quest, I think your party of one rogue, one mage, and two warriors is a good idea. In the elf quest you are often bombarded with large amounts of enemies at one time, although not all of them deal a lot of damage at once, so having two warriors to soak up the damage and having a rogue and a mage to deal powerful attacks from afar sounds good.

Tactics are confusing for basically everyone and if you want my opinion I don't think they're really neccesary per say. I seem to recall in most games (and maybe in Origins too) they tell players that using that tactics menu is really only for advanced players who have a full idea of what exactly they need. I haven't opened the game in a while so memory is a bit foggy on what exactly the menu is like, but I believe theres a few pre set options for companion tactics- i.e. one that has them defending your character (maybe a good idea if you're the warrior to have either Leli or Morrigan do this for you).

Last thing: If real-time is difficult (it was for me at first), you can try pausing and just issuing commands (go attack this enemy, run here, go there) or issuing specific spells or attacks to be used. This is especially helpful if something needs to be done quickly, like a healing spell on a nearly dead companion, because they could die in the time it takes you to switch to Morrigan and find the healing spell on the bar of abilities.

I hope I have helped you out and that you're enjoying the game, it's a really great one :-)

Thank you soo much for the tip!
I kinda get the hang of the combat now, i always pause to check my surrounding and my enemies and making a plan to defeat them never have i play something like this before, now i kinda enjoy the combat
Thank you for reccomending me Morrigan i'll keep in mind about the healing spell
As for Alistair i totally overlooked the constitution i kinda go for strength a lot at least he can use massive armor now
Now i kinda adapt to the game
I am having a bit of trouble about weapons and armor i use the promotional items now their useless is there a good weapons and/ armor that i could get/buy?
And What skill and attributes should me and each of my companions focus on?

No problem :-)

I think you and all your companions should have a focus on building up constituion, but for each class/companion specifically
Alistair/You: strength
Leliana: dexterity and cunning
Morrigan: magic and willpower (magic more important than willpower I think)

With regards to all the herbalism, lock-picking, coercion, etc (those sets of skills) I think the most neccesary one is lock picking because that's where you can get more money, healing items, and better weapons and armor. I usually try to get my rogue to max out on the lock picking skill as soon as possible. The only other one that I think can be sort of neccesary is coercion (which I think only you, not other companions can learn) because that way you can avoid a lot of fights that might lead you to run out of healing items quicker than neccesary.

As for armor and weapons, I'm going through the dwarven quest right now in my current game and I've been finding a lot of really good armor, particularly for my warriors (I'm getting them by looting them off the bodies of thugs, mostly). There's also merchants in the dwarf quest who sell armor and some pretty good weapons. Bodhan at the camp doesn't really have very good weapons and armor so I wouldn't look to him for help, but Tegrin (the dwarven merchant you sometimes meet while travelling from location to location) has some that are nice. I'm particularly fond of the crossbow I got from him, I'm a rogue who attacks from a distance and it is much better than a lot of the normal bows I've found.

Good luck!

U should pause alot when in combat. On Easy and Normal game is pretty Easy with every charakter but your best bet is to have balanced party. U need tank, healer and damaged. U should start and try every 'race and character' and do tutorial missions with them. And decide what do u like the most. Best párty for new player will be like Alistair/ tank, morigan heal/ damager, leliana archer and you.
When combat start its best to ' disable' biggest threat 1st with ForceField spell , kill trash mobs and that return to that biggest threat guy with all your párty. Biggest threat are yellow and orange mobs, 2handers and mages

OK thanks!
I do pause alot when i'm in combat
Also i kinda use the ForceField with a difrent tactic, my character have the taunt skill so when all of my party members is in a pinch i use taunt then use the force field at ME then all enemies will attack me, the rest of my party can heal up then kill them when they still attacking me

Ooh okay one more thing, the force field reminded me of this: the spell "Cone of Cold" freezes a lot of enemies at once at it has saved my life like a billion times in game, especially in places that have maybe 10 enemies coming at you at once in a small room.

I actually just got that skill recently and its awesome, plus it works great with my ForceField Distraction Tactic i'm glad i focus on the freeze skills

Well to really do magic right, one should learn and understand the various spell combos. Since your focused on freeze skills, I would also recomend stonefist and eventually petrify or crushing prison, to get that synergy that results shatttering enemies. Cone of cold, petrify, with proper impact skill (stonefist, a shield bash, crushing prison, etc.) will result in shatter. Forcefield + Crushing Prison= Shockwave.

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Spell_Combinations

So if you freeze or petrify a lot, having impact skills is helpful. Keep in mind on the more advanced combinations of magic, that it doesn;t have to be all spells from same caster/source. Teamwork across party is part of it, so a shield user bashing is as good as having stonefist if you time things right.

Also, if you use ice spells a lot, keep that in mind later. Blizzard can be used to quench greasefires, which is quite helpful in a certain hideout with traps in Denirim, where grease is lit afire.

Look for talents for your Warriors that give you automatic critical hits, and then save them for when Morrigan has frozen foes. A physical blow that does a crit or simply enough damage will shatter popsicles, too!
