Does this replace Devil Daggers?

What's the deal with the new game? Is it just an update of the old formula (kinda like Spelunky HD -> Spelunky 2) or is it something new all it's own?

It plays very differently, with a lot of mechanics that weren't present at all in devil daggers. Definitely its own thing rather than a subtle refinement.

Yes. You can no longer play Devil Daggers, now that this game is out.

The gameplay is about speedrunning something as fast as you can rather than a game that doesn't end. There's also a LOT of new mechanics.

If there was an endless mode like devil daggers, I'd never wanna go back
