Windows 10 Crash Fix for more than 4 cores
This will fix issues where you start the game enter your save data name and then it just hangs on the loading screen.

I remembered The Saboteur crashed at launch with more than 4 cores and that what someone did was patch the .exe to remove the CPU check. That seems to be the same thing happening here but within the loading screen. To bypass this issue for now go to the start menu and type in MSCONFIG.EXE and a System Configuration window should appear go to the second tab called boot and select advanced options. Then you should see Number of Processors. Check that box and select 8 (If this doesn't work try 4) and restart and try launching it. It worked for me! To reverse the changes follow all the above apart from when you get to number of processors uncheck the box and restart or else you won't get your full computers performance. It is just badly programmed.

This isn't isolated to 10, its also only manifested once you install the unofficial update.

Good to know. Just put this info here to help people if they have the same issue I did.

FYI. This only happens in the origin version of the game i believe, their version still have SecuROM & the most recent patch which introduces a ♥♥♥♥ ton of bugs that the steam version doesn't have. Stick to the steam version. You're not missing out much.

Do you need to set it to the amount of cores your CPU has?

no, the issue itself is because the latest update doesn't like 6+ cores.

4 cores works fine on origin version, but anything above will crash the game after loading a file
or starting a new game.

It's a bug with the game. Lost planet 2 has a similiar bug, but instead, it crashes with 6+ cores

6 cores (12 threads) works on the steam version (1.0.0.x)
once updated to 1.1.18+ (or using origin version) it all goes to hell and you have to restrict the system to 8 or lower threads.

Right thank you, that's a better explanation.

I think people wanted the multiplayer version, that's why
