Idol Showdown

Can't quit during online matches anymore?
Something I just found out recently..
Now I can't return to main menu and rehost everytime I get matched with a laggy opponent, instead I have to literally exit and boot up the game again...

Man...... Not like this..

If you mean leaving in the middle of the match, it is proper that a game not let you do that (without force exiting). Just leave after a single match, and maybe even give it up to make it faster (there aren't win/loss records, after all).

Oh, try going through a 1000ms with 7 rollback frames match where a single 5L takes one second to finish..
Rebooting the game is faster than finishing a game at that point.

Also leaving in the middle of a lobby match for a fighting game is normal, try Guilty Gear Xrd as an example. Such restriction should only be placed in a Ranked Match setting.

You finish the match and then you dont rematch, BOOM problem solved.

If it's horrible, force quitting is understandable, but having an in-game option to quit mid-match could make some people tempted to quit mid-match over not-huge lag issues (or just being more likely to rage quit).

Then again, I mostly play Ranked in fighting games, having only really done more than a few lobby/room matches in BBCF (mostly the big lobbies over player rooms, and I still played Ranked there too), so I never realized that there were fighting games that let you quit while playing a match outside of Ranked.

I understand the reasoning, it's perfectly understandable. But a small quality of life change like this really do help when matched with laggy players.

To be fair tho, since this game doesn't have any ranking system, I don't really mind getting rage-quitted on.. God knows how many of those I got ever since I picked up Aki.. And matchmaking in this game is fast too with no loading times in between (looking at you, GGStrive), so if someone RQs, just go back to online mode, and either host or find a lobby that's close.

If it's around 300ms, then okay, it's just laggy as hecc, but the slowdown is bearable, I'll finish the set. 1000 tho?? Boi, you better not...

I alt+f4 everything over 150ms, the game boots up into a new lobby in about 5 seconds so I'm not that bothered.

why did you accept the match after seeing that ping? it shows in the ready and connection screens.

In a different thread I already reported a bug that the game will only show pings only up to 39ms and never above, let alone in the three digits. We can't reliably know someone's connection at this point in time.

What's weird is I can see US lobbies with 6ms ping, but I know for sure the connection is gonna be absolutely horrid. Right now, ping indicator is out of wack.
