Unstoppable Combos
I hate fighting games that have this stuff. Only been a day and already people have realized that there are infinite combos in the game. Basically going to ruin multiplayer for anyone that isn't going to sweat their mind out. Seriously? Really lame and hope they do something about it. I enjoy fighting people that are actually playing a fighting game. I don't enjoy have to sit there and watch my character bounce around because the game gives me no options to stop a 20+ combo that will never end unless the guy screws up an input.

Welcome to fighting games, the genre where infinites have to be found so they can be patched (that or lazy devs just go "don't get hit" and change nothing)

I used to play Skullgirls so I know it to an extent. That being said it really sucks when they're in fighting games because they're more of an exploit than anything. It's basically just memorization instead of reaction and mind games. There's a couple of combos I've seen that get you to half health fairly easily and can get you to 0 if they don't screw it up. It's a good thing the single player is still solid but would have been nice to have a solid MP. Hopefully the devs fix this or else it'll end up like every fighting game where only a handful play online.

Did you try Bursting?

Use burst to get out of combos. the tutorial teaches you about it if you haven't checked it already. but after that you just gotta learn how to block to not get combo'ed. good luck on your gaming, gamer. o7

How the hell do you have 46 hours on Skullgirls and still complain about combos?

There's a difference between playing a fighting game for a week and knowing how to play that fighting game. Realistically most people can have 46 hours in a single week and still not know much more than when they started.

after 46 hours, you'd expect someone to at least notice infinite combo protection.

You know what would be fair for the game? The Burst button fills faster the more hits of a combo lands you. But for the discussion, infinite combos are not intended and are being patched.

Infinites should stay in that case, but limited to select characters. So being able to force opponents to burn Burst is a benefit of that character

Uh no, you force the opponent to burst by doing your normal combo and just don't spend your meter unless you know they can no longer burst it when you do spend it. You don't need an infinite to force someone to burst as they will burst when they think they're in danger and if they don't then they will die. If you can't do a high damaging combo to force your opponent to burst unless you have an infinite then that is a you problem because this game has a lot of damage output, all infinites do is say "Either you burst or this kills you no matter what health you're at, but if you do burst then all I have to do is touch you one more time and then you have no burst to get out of it and die anyway." Suffice to say that isn't ideal for a game that wants to appeal to an audience that is expected to be playing the game casually. I ain't here to get into semantics but it isn't a secret that many games without infinites have had players force/bait out bursts and then punish it.

what's the prompt on that chatgpt ass post? "scrubiest post on idol showdown n fighting games in general"? there's burst and infinite prevention already in place, if you still have issues somehow then fighting games are not for you, end of the story.

Burst button fills very slowly. Realistically you can only get off 1 burst per combo. A good long combo in this game can eat up like half your health bar. As I mentioned before, some of these people are able to do combos so long that they'll eat up 3/4 or almost your entire health bar. I imagine this will only get worse as people get better.

A good long combo in most fighting games will take 70-80% of your health, the games that don't care if you play or not it'll do the entire 100%. Difference between this game and most is that you can do a lot more damage without meter than most other games will allow (that and this game is really easy to do combos in).

The infinite prevention is not good in this game because the burst fills way too slowly. Infinites are not good game design and eventually lead to fighting games where the online is mostly dead. Guess what? It's not fun to not have control over your character. Guilty Gear did a pretty great job of not having infinites and giving the player tons of opportunity to actually fight back. You still get punished and can get combo'd pretty hard, but you're never completely screwed and have to stare at the screen for 5+ seconds as you're unable to do anything.

Also, I don't really give a ♥♥♥♥ if you want to defend bad mechanics. There's a reason successful fighting games have moved on and try to prevent that sort of thing. It's only fun for a small minority who want to use a game to make themselves feel better at life. The rest just want to play a fun fighting game.
