I really loved the Jelly Car games growing up, and was super excited to see that the dev was making a new version. I am really happy that Worlds exists. I think Walaber however underestimated the difficulty of the levels. I think it speaks for itself that only 8.6% of players have finished Frost Mountain (as of this writing). Largely the good reviews probably come from a place of nostalgia, which I definitely feel when I play this, but this game feels like it's trying to be Getting Over It, especially World 7. The difficulty tends to come from not just difficult platforming (in a game where you really don't have precise control over your character) but from lack of player guidance. I very often found myself wondering where I was supposed to go next or what I was supposed to do midway through a level. Another review mentions this, but the binds for the different power-ups not always being the same is also confusing and prevents you developing any sort of muscle memory around them. Maybe it's worth it for the nostalgia, but from a pure gameplay standpoint I can't recommend it.

it is good and I would recommend it but level 3-4 is absurdly hard

I used to love stealing my roommate's phone to play Jelly Car back in the day, but this one just makes it all feel like a chore. I don't enjoy spending half an hour fighting wonky controls and then accidentally falling through a hole that lands me back at the very beginning (yes, there is one stage that does that and it made me rage quit). This is just a game where you throw yourself against a wall, literally, and hope that something sticks.

Really like the vibe and feel of the game, have fond memories of prior JellyCar games. I also played a lot of the demo and had no issue. However, in my 30 minutes of playtime the game crashed 3 times, so I refunded it. I dont know why I had no problems with the demo, but I had problems with the full game

I remembered this game being fun, ♥♥♥♥ getting over it with bennett foddy levels that ♥♥♥♥ pisses me off. i wanted to play the originals but you have to play 3 of the new worlds before it unlocks. oh well just gonna jailbreak my old iphone 4 and download the ipas

Outside of the custom levels and customize-ability of the car this game feels like a downgrade. I remember playing the original one as a kid on cool math games and it was fun, it felt more developed. Each stage had a gimmick that would transform your jelly car into something new to get past the level. And the background felt so much more immersive and was better designed. And while the secret exits are cool, they aren't hard to get to. They are just hidden off the normal path, but the level you get for getting all of them and the normal exits has such a big difficulty increase. And not a fun one, more like having to maximize your jumps and if you are a little off you lose a lot of progress. I'd prefer to just jump on the free cool math games version 100%

Doesn't live up to my expectations.
I remember buying and playing Jellycar, Jellycar2, and Jellycar3 each when they released, so when I saw this, I didn't give it a second thought, with a name like Jellycar WORLDS, and an obvious targeting of the original audience, I bought it on the spot, like I did the first three. I imagined this would be the definitive Jellycar game, I thought about all it might accomplish through utilizing steam to its fullest, and all that it might offer, I even briefly imagined what the future of such a title would look like. I decided that something that special deserved to be played on a special day, and so I patiently waited until Christmas day to play it. Amidst the typical traditions of the day, I downloaded, installed, and launched the game, and I am saddened to report that my experience of the game has been nothing but frustrations, disappointment, and minor notes of nostalgia. I actually had to put away the game for the sake of merry spirits.
Somehow this game inherited all the frustrations and none of the fun of the previous games, it feels like work, and like it was meant for a fresh audience, the car feels slow, the physics feel tame, the game feels hollowed out at the start, the power-ups are annoyingly timer based and locked behind levels, you can't even size up whenever you want(it's also a limited use power-up), the levels feel tedious, the level selection is unnecessary, there's no level editor(why? steam workshop+level editor could have been amazing), there aren't any new car bodies(I don't think so at least, I'm not certain because everything comes locked), it feels more like an insult than a love letter. It could have been more, but it wasn't.

All these years later, and my original opinion still stands, Jellycar 2 was the peak, if you never played it, or you disagree, you'll probably think this game is great.

I imagined a game with portals to the old worlds, portals to the new worlds, and portals to the custom worlds, instead I got smacked by reality.

sound design? good. softbody physics? glitchy. gameplay? ABSOLUTELY ♥♥♥♥. if you think this is a fun, whimsical adventure THEN YOU'RE WRONG! sure it looks fun, but this is just a warning that this game is HARD. if you're really good at video games and consider yourself a pro, the go on ahead and buy it. but it is so frustrating that i might consider this a rage game. it starts off easy, and then when you reach world 3, you'll be skipping every level that you can. If you do want to play this than I don't want to spoil anything, but they sometimes switch around the controls so they're IMPOSSIBLE to memorize. the only thing i truly loved about this game was the story and the heartwarming ending.
